We Don't All Look Alike You Know

I haven't posted any tales of bad customers in awhile- not because I haven't had them but because I haven't had anything out of the ordinary. I haven't decided if that is good or bad.

Anyway, if people can be counted on for anything it is that they will behave badly if given the chance and yesterday was no exception.

As much as the staff of RL for the most part likes the food sometimes you just get sick of it. There is a Chinese place just down the street from us and a few of the co-workers ordered some take-out. When it was time to pick the order up I was the only person who had a car who could leave to pick the food up so off I went to get it.

As I am sitting at table in a quiet corner of the restraint playing Scene It on my phone, the menu and a Coke laid out in front of me waiting on the food. It's important to note at this point that I am only visible from the waist up and I am wearing the rather bland button down plain white oxford dress shirt that is part of my uniform currently unbuttoned half way down (don't get too excited I had a tee shirt on underneath) because it's about 100 degrees in the place. A woman walked into the otherwise empty dining room.
She says something but honestly I wasn't paying attention- why should I?. Still playing with my phone I now hear a louder shrill "Well are you going to help me?!". Again I didn't even bother to look up, frankly I am just glad that I am not dealing with any loud annoying people right that moment myself.
After a short pause- although in irate customer land I am sure it felt like a milleniu, comes an even louder and shriller "Are you just going to sit there playing with your phone or are you going to help me?!" the bit about the phone caught my ear I look up and see the woman fuming and starring daggers at me. Not feeling the need to be polite I snap back "Since I don't work here I think I am going to go back to playing with my phone"
Oh how I wish I had used my camera phone to take a picture of the look on her face. I will give her credit for having the good sense to turn five shades of red and to look thoroughly embarrassed- although she did not bother to apologize.

One look at the place tells you this is not a dressy waiter type place, honestly it is just slightly nicer then a Panda Express. But beyond that how do you just decide "Hey that persons wearing a white shirt!- I bet they want to take my order!" People could we please try and act like we were not raised by wolves.
