(In some corner of some room in the Mansion, ARTHUR has found a comfortably worn recliner. It's large, large enough for two, and just beside a window that's been opened a few centimeters. He's looking out, looking up, into the night sky. The constellations are unrecognisable or vague, but they're stars and that's enough.)Stars. You can't see ( Read more... )

*Perry comes in a moment later with The Devil and Daniel Webster, and wearing three shirts overtop of each other. he turns on a light and sits in the armchair below it, so comfortable with Arthur's presence that he doesn't appear to notice him*

*but Arthur notices the change in the light level and so he looks up, not overly surprised at seeing who it is. he lays his paper down in his lap and just watches; sometimes he really is just completely content to look at Perry, especially when Perry is comfortable, when he is relaxed*

*he's halfway through the story (it's quite short), and after a little while he tucks his feet up underneath him and snuggles deeper into the armchair, with a small, slightly cynical but very amused laugh, as though he's read something that is funny because it's so true to human nature*

*and Arthur's very quiet, with a very quiet, honest, loving smile that spreads across his entire face and crinkles around his eyes-- and he doesn't feel guilty about seeing something he shouldn't see, because this, this is his*

*it is so much his, and Perry turns another page and starts humming, probably without thinking about it, although he occassionally breaks off to laugh or say something to the book*

*that's just too much-- too much love, too much affection, too much perfect and adorable Perry, that Arthur can't help it. very, very softly, he'll say, almost not even to Perry at all:* Oh. I love you.

*at which a slow smile will spread over his face, and without looking up he'll murmur* I love you, too. My Artie.

*just as softly* Hey. *shifts a little in his own chair and pulls back the blanket, so that someone else could easily crawl beneath it* Come here?

*looks up, then, and puts the book down; crosses over to Arthur and slips in beside him* How are you?

*and tucks the blanket in a little behind Perry, pulling up close to him with the effort* Perfect now. *smiles, and it's with a soft, gentle request-- that somehow manages to sound unlike a pick-up line when Arthur says it* Would you kiss me?

*slips an arm over his stomach, carressing a little with his hand as it crosses and then tucks over Arthur's hip* That's a silly question. *and kisses him*

*it's a soft kiss, comfortable in the fourteen years of kisses before it, and yet it seems to Arthur that it's perfect in every way* I can be silly sometimes. *lets his hand rest on Perry's chest*

That's probably why I've never stopped. What were you reading? I didn't want to stop you. You looked so-- perfect.
