As before with my GED, I took some ACT practice tests today to evaluate approximately how well I would do on the actual ACT. The results were really good! For English, Reading, and Science, the average score was around 30 (something like 33 is the maximum, and 23 is required to pass. To get 30, you can't miss more than about ~5% of the questions) It went really well--until I did math.
It was an absolute nightmare. I gave up about halfway into it, because I felt like there was no way that I could do sixty of those questions in sixty minutes. This is hard stuff! At least for me. So many of the geometry problems require that you remember certain formulas, or relations between different types of triangles. I don't remember any of that stuff, and when it comes to questions which are explained in the answers like, "To solve this question, you need to understand the ratio of the lengths of sides for a 30-60-90 triangle (x: x times the square root of 3, 2x)" I don't know that! How would I? So many of these questions require a lengthy, accomplished high school education and I just don't have that. @_@ I'm guessing from today that I might get half of the math questions right by solving them, and the rest I should probably just guess on. I also think that filling out the answer bubbles to make a pretty pattern would be more effective. I went over all of the problems with my grandfather, who was an airplane engineer, and it helped...for those specific cases. I really don't know how I'll do getting up at five in the morning half asleep with a new set of questions. ;;
Anyways, either I'll take the test Saturday, or end up taking it in December. Possibly both, if my math score is really that bad. :x But I have a lot to look forward to! (and one thing to dread) It's just a few days after the test that I can preorder the Wii, and I think I'm going to trade in my Gamecube and Xbox to get a DS Lite. I was going to wait until Pokemon Diamond and Pearl came out, but that's like, a really long time XD And besides, what could be better than a pink one? There truly could never be anything greater. And of course, I said I'd learn to drive in November, so... oo; That's coming up too.
Oh, and I had thought about trying to sell this computer, and using the money to fund a real Mac. This computer will be three years old in December, but it's still a good computer! And at the time, it was pretty expensive. I thought that perhaps I could get $2000 out of it. Well...I went to Dell and customized a machine slightly better than mine, and ended up a little over a thousand. I don't know the specs of
simplepromise's computer, nor what
lightningchan will get when Vista comes out...but, guys? It scares me to think that you could both have better computers than I do. How did that happen? :x
