Does anybody think it is weird that apparently nobody intervened when they saw an individual chaining doors at a campus building?

I am betting that my dad will encourage me to get a permit to carry a concealed handgun for self (and other defense)in an academic job. Phew. Although, if truth be told....I wonder if any innocent lives would have been saved in one student or professor had been carrying a gun...and could have been prepared to shoot the assailant in defense of self and others. If I were carrying a gun, I knew that shots had been fired, and somebody stormed into my class with weapons, I can say that I would have no qualms about shooting in defense of self and others. And I would certainly at least be able to shoot with enough accuracy to disable him. (I would develop those qualms later...and only if I killed him).

I am struck by the heroism of a professor who allegedly stayed behind to bar the door of his classroom and was killed. Too bad he didn't also have a weapon.

EDIT: Concealed carry is still illegal in Wisconsin (one of only a couple of states). Also, there could be issues with carrying a weapon in certain academic institutions given "gun free" school laws. Even police officers have to check their weapons upon entering a school unless they are responding to an obvious threat.
