EDIT: Bunny is deceased. RIP, little bunny. So sorry you had to die in vain.....
I'd do one of those "link" things if I knew how.
Last night Lucy caught a rabbit....I saw her with this big brown and gray rabbit hanging on either side of her mouth. I was hoping it hadn't been too bad b/c there was no blood in the snow. I yelled and waved a stick until she dropped it.
It managed to slowly hop into the bushes...I assumed it must have been not too badly hurt.
But she found it again this am. I am kicking myself for not keeping a closer watch. Instead I went down to check on laundry and when I looked out the window again, I saw her with the bunny in her mouth again, in a different part of the yard.
I came out with a broom. In my bare feet. She dropped the rabbit. It thrashed/twitched a bit. Still no blood. I chased Lucy into the house with a broom.
I still can't tell if the rabbit is dead or just in shock/playing dead. I found a box and some old towels. Gathered up Mr. Bun and carried him outside of the fenced enclosure to a scrubby area, where I turned the box on its side so that he has some protection from the flaps, but he can get out if he wants. I left the towels too... I guess I'll know if he's dead if the box is not empty when I get home. I didn't leave any food or water though....I wonder if I should. At least my dogs won't get him...
Waaahhhhhhhh waaaaaahhhhh Waaahhhhh
I don't even know where I can bury him if he's dead...
