Snippets from the drive home today:
Pat: "Oh, you ordered cheese on my whopper."
Max: "Yeah, we should have just asked the lady to scrape lard onto it instead."
Me: "I can tell we're in northern michigan."
Pat: "Why, because the roads just turned to shit?"
Me: "Yes!"
Pat: "I was just thinking that a half a second ago."
Me: "Oh look, Max. The hyacinths in your front yard match the shutters."
It's been eight hours. I am covered in dog and cat hair. My beloved grand am has been taken over by my little brother, who's installed subs that shake all the rust off the trunk lid. I've read 3/4 of a book of essays. My room feels bare and abandoned, although it's full of useless things that need to be donated. I have shuffled through car insurance, medical bills, and my mother's plan for the next five years of my life. Tomorrow I have to call AAA to finalize car insurance, change the title of a 97 Taurus to my name, get new license plates, and call the dentist and the eye doctor to see if there have been any cancellations for the week. I also get to spend some quality time with my dad at his shop.
I am looking forward to seeing Torch Lake when I wake up in the morning.
