However, since you asked, I'll tear apart your argument anyhow. I guess we couldn't call the Gospel of Mark Christian, either. In fact many of the books in the NT predate Christianity as an explicit and easily identifiable religious sect.
Or, let's take the example of the Book of Wisdom. It predates Jesus, let alone Christianity or specifically Catholicism and Orthodoxy. However, this book is now part of the Catholic and Orthodox canons, and it influences doctrine and theology in a way it doesn't for other forms of Christianity which reject its importance.
