I didn't mean it in a high and mighty way. Believe it or not. I just thought you might have other things on your mind. And of course, it's not as though she were ever in real danger.

Even assuming that Holtz is your "father," that doesn't make him your friend. Wesley could tell you about that, too.

Being possessed and in a coma is a real danger. Ask Cordy. Anyway, it's really good to hear Kara's okay again. I mean, I don't know her very well, but she saved me and stuff, and she was nice to me before that.

Look, I don't want to get into another argument. Because you could tell him about Justine and me, for starters. But you and Wesley didn't live with the man, I did. He raised me. He made me what I was, and then Angel remade me, and maybe that's screwed up beyond belief, but you do what you do to protect your family, and they both taught me that. This isn't about friendship. It's about love. And if you had children, you'd know that. Let's leave it at that, okay?

But Kara wasn't the only one. Darla had a lot to do with it. And if Holtz is your family, she's your famiy too. Do you think Holtz will be content to let Darla be?

I kept Justine from going after Darla. I can do that again. And anyway, as I said before, you don't know him. At all. He wouldn't kill Darla now. Any more than he killed Angel back then. She's human. That means she is a different kind of prey. If he still wants vengeance, he'll want me to destroy her, and I won't. So Darla is safe in any case.

But just that we're clear on this. So is he. I won't let you, or her, or anyone else harm him, either. And that includes himself.

I have no beef with Holtz.

There's no love lost there but. . . As long as he stays away from Darla, I'll stay away from him.

The thing is, he's one of the good guys. I recognize that. But he doesn't let anybody stand in his way. And that's why he's dangerous. And Connor? Don't think you're any exception to the rule.

Also? Happy birthday from one water sign to another. Cyvus Veil and I have the same taste in fake birthdays. So they cancel out, and I'm not offended at your failure to get me a present.
