argh
so we went over to meet the new neighbours today and over the course of the conversation between my mom and the new neighbours all this stuff about me being a theatre major comes out and how mom and dad decided to just let me do it so they don't have to hear about it later when it doesn't work out. i'm sorry waht?!?!?!?!?!? i HATE when stuff like that happens!!! you didn't LET me do this, i decided to do it becuase its my life and thats what i wanna do and i really don't care what you have to say about it at all! If she can admit her apathy to the situation i would hope that would at least make her AWARE of what a shitty thing that is to do to your child. she even said to them 'well the other two were no problem, 5 year program and then he was out with a job, four years and out with a job. well this one will be out in four years but we'll see about the job'. WHAT THE F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe if you weren't so anal about people finishing college in four years i would have had the time to take some other classes in other fields of study and maybe fall in love with somthing more secure. but REGARDLESS this is what i chose to do and its whats going to make me happy so if you can't be supportive then shut it. for someone so hung up on traditional family roles, and loves to use phrases like 'i'm the mom that's why' or 'its my job as a parent' then let me tell you a little soemthing about traditional family roles. SUPPORT YOUR CHILDREN IN THEIR DECISIONS AND BE HAPPY FOR THEM, THAT"S your damn job as a parent!
