This is the official fanmix for Through This Night, a lotsbigbang by morgenwrites. It's more of a mini-mix, since there's only five songs, but each one has a special connection to the story and to Richard and Kahlan's relationship.

It seemed the room soon held every guard in the palace. The thought of Richard lying near death forced her on, and she attacked.

Day was dawning pink and gold when they at last made their way back towards the camp, their clothes still somewhat damp from the sea. Kahlan leaned into Richard's side, holding hands as they walked back along the beach through sands that had been completely submerged just hours before. The world felt new and very bright.

All that I am, all that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
If I lay here, if I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
"My love," said Kahlan, tears in her eyes. "My only love." And in the golden light in Aydindril, Richard kissed his wife.

¹ I think this was intended to be a break-up song, but I think it fits perfectly with Kahlan's guilt and sadness at the beginning of the story; how she wants to be with Richard and lose herself with him so that she doesn't have to face what she did. This song is originally by Avril Lavigne, but this version is performed by the Juicebox Assassins, a YouTube-based band who are truly amazing.
² Another re-interpretation; this is supposed to be song of unrequited love. But to me it really expresses Kahlan's joy and amazement that she gets to be with the man she loves. She knows Richard loves her, but she believes that Richard can never really understand how much she loves him, and, as a Confessor, how much being with him means to her.
