I'm not much of a gardener, but since my house came complete with a yard and several well-established flower beds, I feel compelled every so often to go out and do something with it. So I went and weeded and whacked away at the overgrown butterfly bush that was encroaching on the neighbours' yard. My arms are all scratched up and there's dirt under my finger nails, but it was a nice day and I very much enjoyed working outside in the sun for a few hours.
In other news, I also mowed the weeds lawn since it was getting to be about that time. We keep our mower in the garden shed. The first thing I noticed when I opened up said shed to retrieve the mower was the stench of rat urine and the little rat turds scattered everywhere. Great. It's fortunately a small shed and I think that if we just haul everything out -- I already threw away the bag of lawn chair covers in which they were nesting -- and power wash it, then figure out where the heck they're getting in, we should be fine. I wonder, though, if I brought home warfarin tablets from work, would they eat them??
