Career Ponderings

Mar 12, 2007 23:20

You know...recently I've been so caught up in grades and assignments that I've realized I still have no clue what I want to do after obtaining my degree. I've been in school for so long that I sometimes I forget to think about what'll happen after it's all done.

I guess ideally, I'd like to find work at a private company that builds tourism spacecraft capable of flying to altitudes within the suborbital atmosphere. But chances are, I won't be getting such a job straight out of college (if at all, I'm not sure how the job outlook is in such a field). I think it'd be wiser to build up experience elsewhere beforehand.

So, I guess my questions for all of you (that are currently involved in careers) are the following:

- Did you have any major plans or goals as far as a career when leaving school?

- If so, did you see those plans through immediately with your first job, or did you wait to gain experience with other things first?

- And if you did see these plans through, were you or are you presently happy with where you are in your field, or did your goals and plans eventually change?

college, life
