housey update

so the pittsburgh house has been on the market for what, about 2 months now? in that time, exactly 4 people have been in to see it. the first was a bit "concerned" by the house next door - it is sloooooly being fixed up by a really nice guy, but it's still currently an eyesore. the next two actually made offers. absolutely insulting offers - $35K and $40K below our asking price. nope, not that desperate yet folks. and the fourth was a woman who looked at it on sunday. realtor called last night asking for info about how much utilities cost us, so i guess #4 must be pretty interested. i hope the utility cost doesn't scare her off - it is a 100-year-old house, enormous, and not well insulated, so heating it is expensive. but not ridiculously so IMO.

we're going to talk again with the guy next door. and, in the event that we still have nothing in a few months, talk with a grad student couple about whether they might be interested in renting. that's definitely a last resort though. we aren't technically allowed to rent it, so at this point, i would be happiest if it could just find new owners.

sigh. we're definitely feeing the current economic armageddon. in a lot of ways.
