I finished Ben's present from Dorian. I really wanted to get him the Cartman "Beefcake" plush, bu I couldn't find it anywhere (did I already say this? Probably) Since people refer to Ben as Beefcake, and now that is what he calls Dorian. I thought it would be cute. I ended up making a little something instead. I'm not crafty or clever at all, so this took a lot of effort from me! I got a little plain wooden box (without a lid), about 12 inches by 4 inches, I guess. I painted it green (Ben's favorite color) and bought little wooden letters and painted those blue. It says "My daddy is the best" and on the back it says "Merry Christmas, love, Dorian" and "2005" which is painted Chevy orange...I thought we had red spray paint, but we don't. Ben always has Chevy orange on hand since he's constantly tinkering with the cars, so that's what I used. He'll notice it right away :)I figure he can keep it in the garage to put screwdrivers in or something. I know he'll love it.
We're leaving tomorrow morning at 5:30am...oh, that's going to be early. But I shouldn't have to feed Dorian until 6:30, as long as I can move him from the crib to the carseat without really waking him up. That might be tough. Either way, he'll ea,t then at about 9, he'll go to sleep for about 2 hours. That puts us at 11. He'll be awake for another 2 hours then sleep again, so I'm hoping he'll sleep 4-5 hours out of the 7 or 8 we'll be in the car. He does really well in the car and we did go on a 3.5 hour trip with him and returned the same day and he did great both ways.
I'm really excited to see the family down there! We'll get to spend the afternoon and evening with my grandparents and my aunt and uncle (who bought a house right down the street from them and spend their winters there). My dad is so thrilled to see Dorian, he can't wait. Dorian is his 7th grandchild, so at least he's got the hang of it now :)
My nephews (who are 10 & 12) have nicknamed Dorian "D to the Double L" hahahaha. Cracks me up. So when my dad emails or writes, he always refers to him as DLL.
Okay, now I'm just rambling, I'm somewhat bored, even though I have plenty to do. I just don't want to!! We're packed and the car is packed, all the gifts are in it too. Now I need to put away the rest of the laundry and set up the guestroom for our friend who's staying here to watch the dogs. I also need to finish straightening up the living room. None of that will take really long, and I can't get the guestroom ready until Ben moves all his crap. We have too much stuff for one closet, so he keeps his stuff in there.
Oh yeah, and I got the book I wanted!! Trace by Patricia Cornwell. I've only been waiting a year to get it! Hopefully I'll have a chance to read it on the trip tomorrow.
