Oh my gosh, Christmas was crazy! There was wrapping paper everywhere, and tinsel fell off the tree, so did the fake snow and this lady, Santana, kept stopping by. She's supposed to be Rachel's best friend. Mama turned red a few times when she was at the house.
Then we had Christmas at Aunt Millie's. But first, Mama had to do last minute shopping cause Santana's 'lady friend' (that's what Daddy called her), was coming too and we didn't have presents for her. Daddy said it was lucky she had her head screwed on because she would lose it if she wasn't careful. Then Mama punched him. In the arm. Daddy said it didn't hurt, but I told him it was okay to cry.
On Christmas Eve, we sat around the Christmas tree and drank hot chocolate with the little marshmallows. The pink ones are my favorite. Mama read the Story of the Nativity and then I got to crawl into her lap next to Rachel while she read The Night Before Christmas. But the one that's personized with my name in it. Right before bed, I snuck a cookie that we made for Santa, but I left him a note saying sorry. I think he understood because I still had presents on Christmas morning.
Then Santa came. I know he did because I set some traps. Last Christmas when I asked Mike about how Santa visits the children without fireplaces, he said Santa was magic and would find other ways into their homes. Mama says he comes down our fireplace, but I heard Daddy say that he can't because the flu is blocked. Then I remembered that episode of that old show Scooby-Doo and how they put flour on the floor to see if it was a real ghost or not. When Mama and Rachel thought I was sleeping and they were giggling and whispering in front of the tree (yuck), I snuck into the kitchen and put some of Mama's flour on the floor in front of the back door.
On Christmas morning, there were footprints! Big, giant, bootprints! Santa's really big. The cookies were gone too and so were the carrots for the reindeer. I only found all that after I had to wake up Mama and Rachel. Well, actually, Rachel was already awake, but she was doing this weird thing where she was watching Mama sleep. And then I woke up Mama.
Under the tree there were so many presents! They were everywhere. I was so excited, and I couldn't wait to see what I'd gotten, but we had to wait for Daddy who came in his pajamas like he did every Christmas. He picked me up and hugged me tight. I love it when he picks me up, I always feel like a giant.
Rachel sat on the floor with us, instead of the chair because she didn't want to be far from all the fun. I don't blame her. We did have more fun on the floor. Daddy played Santa's helper and handed out the presents. I felt a little bad because Rachel's pile was so little next to mine, but she seemed more excited about me opening my presents, so I didn't feel too bad.
I got loads of new clothes from Mama, and a really nice bookcase that Daddy said he'd put together for me. I've got new pajamas and dresses and cords and even a new pea coat! These were my favorites:
I'm glad Mama got me some new clothes, because sometimes Daddy forgets. He did get me some socks though. These were my favorite pair:
He also bought me rollerblades and a new helmet and the coolest pair of Converse! They're custom Beatles and they're the awesomest pair I've ever seen! I can't wait to show everyone at school after Winter Break:
And Rachel got me a few gifts too. Which I said thank you for, of course. This was the coolest though (and the Codename: Princess stuff):
The awesomest though, was Santa's present. At first I thought he didn't make it, even though I could see his bootprints at the door, but then I found an envelope with my name on it in the tree. At first I thought maybe he couldn't give me what I wanted, but when I read the note carefully, there was a clue inside. Santa was sending me on a treasure hunt around the house to find my present. I just had to follow the clues and they would lead me to the final present. Rachel was super excited about it. I think it's because Santa didn't visit her when she was little.
Anyway, I followed the clues and there were presents with each one! They started small with nail polish and lip gloss and then they just got bigger and bigger. The clues made me have to go to the strangest places in the house. I think I ended up in the hall closet once where I found this with my clue:
It's a Lava Coaster! I can't wait to build it with Daddy and Officer Friendly.
At the very end though, and I think I went to every room of the house - even the kitchen, to find the clues, there was a box. I studied it closely for a few minutes because I couldn't remember what I asked from Santa that would need a box like this. I was super careful in unwrapping it. Mama, Daddy and Rachel were all watching me unwrap it. Rachel was super excited still. I feel bad that Santa never visited her. Maybe next year I can ask him to visit her.
When I got the paper off the box, I couldn't believe it! I got a uWatch for my room! Not any uVision, but a Codename: Princess uWatch! It's really pretty.
Then we went to Aunt Millie's and I got to play with Julia. We ate a lot of food too. It was a pretty great Christmas.
