I didn't like the Friday Five this week. It was about e-mails or soemthing like that. Oh well.
Yesterday, I got my car back. I was so happy. Everything works properly now. I can actually put gas in my car without the pump being stopped before the tank is full. They even cleaned the entire car for me, which is something I was planning to do this weekend after I got it back. It was all clean when I got it back yesterday - they vacuumed the inside and washed and waxed the exterior. It looks so pretty now.
Did you hear that Britney Spears had her baby? She had a c-section sometime on Wednesday. That was interesting to me because I wonder if she has a big scar on her belly and if that will prevent her from wearing her belly shirts. That was random I know.
So... I was reading an article on ESPN today. It was about Danny Wuerffel. You probably don't know who this guy is, but he was THE quarterback when I was at Florida. I mean, this guy was too good to be true. He did a lot of things for the Fellowship of Christina Athletes. He was not afraid to express his faith. After every successful pass, he would clasp his hands and look to the sky. We all knew he was thanking God. His last year at UF was his most successful - he won the Heisman and the 1996 National Championship for the University of Florida. I remember attending a FCA seminar one night, not long after the championship game. He wasn't like most athletes that I met in my classes. He was really humble, thanking God for giving him the talent to play football. He was just a classy gut. Apparently, he still is. He played for the New Orleans Saints up until this February, when he announced his retirement. He took a job with the Desire Street Ministry in New Orleans as Development Director. Desire Street was the murder capitol of the US when the ministry opened in 1990. And the ministry is making the neighborhood a healthy place to live. The thing I love about this story is that Wuerffel gave up all the glitz and glory of an athlete's lifestyle in order to make this world a better place to live, starting with one neighborhood in New Orleans. He was quoted in the ESPN article saying that Hurrican Katrina "gives us the opportunity to do more good than ever. We will do that." I love that. With all the crime and blame and political criticism coming out of this tragedy, he is putting the focus on helping people. He really makes me proud to be a graduate of the University of Florida.
Wow... I don't know if that made sense at all.
Florida vs. Tennessee. Tomorrow at 8pm.
