What an interesting few weeks I have had. I will update about my Christmas break later today or tomorrow.

I probably won't be going back to work until the New Year, if possible. On December 9, I had a massive headache at work, which I later figured out to be a migraine. I got home from work and noticed that something wasn't right with my vision. I went to go work out, but couldn't because of the migraine. I still noticed that my vision wasn't right. Well I did my self eye exam that I always do, and noticed a huge black spot in the middle of my vision in my right eye. It wasn't my contacts, and it wasn't my glasses being dirty. I waited until later that night to see if it would go away on it's own. It didn't. So at about 6pm, I called Julie (my boss) and told her what was happening. She told me not to worry about work becuase I probably had a bleed in my eye somewhere.

I showed up to Dr. Stevens office hoping that he would see me as early as he could since I didn't have an appointment. He concluded that I have a subretinal hemorrhage in my right eye. He sent me up to the Retina Specialists to see Dr. Nuthi. She did an angiogram on my right eye to see the spot where it was bleeding. She said that this was probably because my blood pressure was high at some point the day before. The only thing that I can figure is that I had a migraine and continued to work, and the combination of the migraine and being on my feet and exercising with patients all day caused my BP to spike. So anyways, she said no lifting or working out until I saw her on the 16th. Since she didn't specifically say NOT to go to work, I tried to go to work on the following Monday. Big mistake. Even Julie told me that I had no business trying to work like that. She sent me home after an hour. I saw Dr. Nuthi again on the 16th, and told her what happened. She said that unless I can transfer to a different department where I don't have to work with patients that just got out of surgery, I should not go back to work until the 1st. Also, she said that the spot is getting smaller.

This coming Thursday, the 30th, I have another appointment with Dr. Nuthi. I have a feeling that she is going to tell me not to work for a couple more weeks because that spot is still there. I guess we'll see.
