i turned 30 today (er, yesterday na, i guess, it's past midnight na pala). yikes. :p
here's where the universe (more like God, actually) proved that there are cycles and seasons to things. as melancholic as i was (and more than just a bit cynical, i might add--something someone with the user name melcantara seized upon in order to deplore how sad my life is) in the past few days, that everything will right itself in the end.
a few days before my birthday, my YCFC household members surprised me with a mini-birthday bash. made me cry like a baby, too. :p and then yesterday, the greetings started to come in even before the clock struck 12--some of them from people i hadn't heard from in a while. and then, when i had officially turned a year older, joey snuck into the room (where i was working fiendishly to finish an assignment), and surprised me with this:
having already told him i didn't want anything after the surprise birthday bash he arranged, it came as a pleasant surprise. more so when i finally opened to see this:
princess is our beloved 6 year old belgian malinois mix, while gigi is a kitten i've adopted lately. here she is:
anyhow, once i opened the card, i was surprised to see that joey had compiled greetings from about a gazillion people.
the photo doesn't show it very clearly, but underneath the first layer, there were MORE! reading through each and everyone of them made me tear up quite badly. some of my favorites are the ones from my brother, from SFC friend wenks, to name a few. parang it was God's way of telling me that i wasn't as alone as i thought i was. it was unbelievably humbling and awe inspiring.
after reading all the messages, i opened what joey called his token gift. i already knew what it was from the packaging, so i wasn't surprised to find this:
i haven't had the time to buy books in the past couple of months, much less read them. pero ayun, it was something to complete my harry potter collection, hehe.
the rest of the day had a laidback vibe to it. after singing in the morning mass at the comboni mission center with my friends and choir-mates at YCFC/SFC, joey and i spent a lazy morning (he took a leave today), and later on had lunch with my fashion designer neighbor, who's turned into one of my BFF's over the months that we've lived next door to each other. the rest of the day was spent in utter relaxation, and it felt nice to be recharged like that. we ended the day by having dinner with reggie again.
it wasn't as big a production as last year's birthday was, but it was a great birthday nevertheless. super thanks to all who remembered and made it a very special day. :)
