RANDOM POST OF HELPFULNESS SORTA.
So. In lieu of all of the viruses/hacking/crazy shit that's going down and because I've been meaning to do this for a while, I am going to list/share my firefox add-ons and a few other programs that I have saved. My. Life. This is not nearly all of them, but more the ones I feel are worthy of being mentioned. So, in no particular order:
FIREFOX ADD-ONS
AdBlock Plus - Allows you to right click an image and block it. It'll block the address anywhere it appears on the 'net.
Flashblocker - Blocks any sort of flash video from showing or playing until you decide you want to see it. Comes in REALLY handy when there's those annoying and loud animated advertisements on a page.
WOT - AKA Web of Trust. Warnas you about bad or malicious websites before you visit or will warn when pop-ups are unsafe (like the ones that you sometimes get with Megaupload) and gives you the option to close the page before you're even able to click anything.
Keeyscrambler - KeyScrambler Personal encrypts your keystrokes at the kernel driver level to protect your information from keyloggers.
In other words, the text will show up normal to you when typing, but within the driver it looks like a giant keyboard smash.
Photobucket Uploader - Allows you to right-click an image and select to upload it straight to Photobucket and bypass having to save it to your computer and then upload it.
Download Helper - allows you to rip videos from youtube and youtube like sites and either save them as a .mp4 or a .flv, which can be played in Windows Media Player/VLC Player and the files can also be converted to .mp3 with the help of the proper program.
FoxyTunes - Allows you to control any media program from right within your browser.
Screengrab - Allows you to save whole webpages in one click. No need to use "print screen" or miss out on anything by taking multiple shots. Will save the whole page in one click!
Download Statusbar - Makes it so anything you download in firefox shows up as a widget within the browser so you can monitor it without it getting in the way of anything.
Down Them All - Download Manager for firefox.
PDF Download - Allows you to choose what to do with PDF files. Download them, view them as HTML on the web, just open them as PDFs... kind of cool and saves you the hassle of downloading something that you want to read but not necessarily wait to download.
Stumbleupon - AKA THE BEST WAY TO PROCRASTINATE EVER.
Tab Mix Plus - Lets you do all sorts of fun stuff with tabs. Whee.
Tab Renamizer - Lets you rename your tabs and it STAYS named. For a change.
Foxclocks - Be creepy and stalk friends in different timezones by *always* knowing what time it is where they are.
Delicious Bookmarks - A neato way to save your bookmarks to the interwebs!
LJ Hook - for all of your lazy HTML/Icon selecting needs! Works with LJ clones as well.
PROGRAMS
IMGBURN - Rockin' way to burn things to DVD.
DVD Videosoft - converts saved Youtube videos to .mp3s.
MP3 to Audiobook converter - ... well.
Videora Video Converter - converts videos (yt, movies, vobs, etc etc) to be iPod/iTunes compatible.
Avast! - Paired with Spyware Doctor, which I will link below, one of the best anti-virus programs I've ever used.
Spyware Doctor - It's not the best by itself, but it WILL pick up a ton of stuff that some programs miss out on. Like I said, between this and avast! it'll cover a lot. For free, no less.
Spybot Search and Destory - The standard. Basically. :X
VideoLan - My favorite video playing program ever, as it will play just about *anything*. You can play videos, cap them, etc etc and it's awesome. :D
