This week is tried and true cooking week. I've tried a bunch of different recipes lately, and I've suffered a few horrifying failures. So we decided that this week I would only make dinners that we have made and enjoyed before.
Luckily I just picked up some more of my favorite dal beans. After having a delightful burrito at La Cumbre on Valencia (in SF), we went to Bombay Bazaar for the most amazing little beans. I use them in the "Rauncy Red Lentil" soup from the La Dolce Vegan cookbook. I have made the soup before with yellow split peas, and it's good, but not spectacular. Here are pictures of the beans (with Gomez the dog for scale!) and the soup. If you're in the city, or if you have an Indian grocery in your city, I recommend them. They were $3.99 for 2 pounds, which is lots of bowls of tasty soup.
