No idea how I forgot to mention this earlier, but I think my boyfriend's dad is actually a wizard.
I stayed at their house last night, and Neil (the boyfriend's dad) was donig some card tricks. Now, I already know that Neil's a genius (you can take a card from the pack, he can look through them super-fast and tell you which is missing - I thought that was really impressive), and the tricks he showed us were great. I couldn't work out how he was doing them, but, as with most card tricks, I could imagine - he'd arranged the pack specifically beforehand, he knew were certain cards were, etc. - BUT one trick completely blew my mind.
Toby (the boyfriend) and I picked a card from the deck (7 of diamonds) and put it back. Neil had his back turned the whole time. I then drew a 7 and a diamond on a piece of paper in pencil. We then BURNED the piece of paper. Neil then turned back round, and Toby rubbed the ashes from the paper on his dad's forearm and THE 7 AND THE DIAMOND APPEARED ON HIS FOREARM IN ASH!
How does that work?! Even if he did know what the card was, how did it appear in the ash?! Amazing.
