GUYS, I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS.

Here is my ~video response~ to talimeeka's questions. Not in costume because I was tired/lazy after the movie and only filmed this today, but I went as, uh, subtle Underwater Light Draco lolol aka Wellesley sweatshirt (a very Slytherin place, let's be honest!!), green jacket, lots of silver, and a mug of coffee. All tremble ( Read more... )

Hahaha, I love how your explanation of what you liked about DH II is the exact opposite of what I disliked it. However, you perfectly explained what I love about the HBP movie ( ... )

sdlfkj different strokes~

The Quill culture was so odd!! I mean, all fandom culture and hierarchy is pretty convoluted, but idk the Quill was like all that plus an extra dose of elitism? sldkj so odd, but ahh I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I KNOW. LIKE. WHY WERE THEY LOCKED AWAY... WHY WERE THE OTHER HOUSES NOT GIVEN THE OPTION TO HIDE.... DID THEY REALLY JUST EXPECT THE WHOLE SCHOOL TO RISK THEIR LIVES?? lskdj getting too worked up about this, but come on.

lolol oh Crabbe.

mcgonagall was too busy for that bullshit, abbey. better just lock all the slytherins in a closet and move on with things.

I still do wish, like, Blaise or Daphne Greengrass~~~ had ended up being a halfway decent Slytherin. But I've sort of reached a point of zen with that issue, so it didn't really bother me in the film.

dsljk if I ever meet Rowling in a dark alley I will cry at her about her treatment of Slytherins. It is just so sdlfkj contrary to THE ENTIRE THEME OF THE BOOKS. What happened to looking beyond labels, JK??? Why is ambition a bad thing? I mean, why is Dumbledore, who did a bunch of pretty shady shit in his quest for power or whatever, allowed to die a hero, when a bunch of scared kids are forever labeled cowards because they don't want people they care about to die for some speccy kid who made their lives hard? Aghhhhhh this wound cuts deep sdlfj.

It seems so silly to gloss over any shady bits of a character. Like. I like Harry because he is angry and rash and pretty, uh, blind to viewpoints other than his own. I like Draco because he's a petty bastard. I like Snape because he is a fucking child about so many things. Slughorn's great because he's pitiful and name dropping. Just. Why would you deny these characters those awesomely annoying traits? And how does that help your case? sldkj sigh.

Godddd Slytherin losing the House Cup has driven me insane since it was brought to my attention. It's not so much that Harry didn't deserve dslfj house points for defeating evil, it's more that it really set into motion how isolated Slytherin would be for the rest of the series, that they weren't privy to that information and that they would always see Dumbledore as playing favorites, someone who couldn't be counted on or trusted. The house cup is pretty silly, but what it symbolized really bothers me.

True true. I wish there had been slytherin fic that managed to toe the line between completely bashing gryffindor for things like winning the house cup and showing why slytherin students would be understandably really upset by things like that. It always felt like it was only one or the other; either gryffindor could do no wrong and slytherin were always being horrible for no good reason, or slytherin was entirely blameless and harry potter could go suck it the bastard. asdkf I need nuance and subtlety in my harry potter fanfiction gosh.

sdlfj right. It is just so complicated!! It should be treated with respect and care!

Oh, Slytherin. Oh, house politics.

Also now all I can think about is how much we freaked out when Draco suddenly had character depth in book six. NO ONE EXPECTED IT. Not even me. So glorious.

WE WERE ALL SO SHOCKED. I had been mentally preparing myself for months to have Draco, like, barely even be in the book and maybe even just die off camera randomly. and then suddenly BOOM central player in the plot and crying in bathrooms because of his daddy issues. ROWLING MY QUEEN.

I LOVE THAT THE MALFOYS BECAME LIKE THIS SYMBOL, HOW THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WAR CAN LOVE TOO. Lucius and Narcissa running through the battle looking for Draco :( "He'll kill my whole family" :(

sldfkj I have been thinking lately that Narcissa may be everything I admire in a person. Avoiding firm loyalties, looking out for her own at any cost, and looking hot while doing it. WHAT A BADASS.

She turned out to be so suprisingly awesome. likeafox July 19 2011, 06:59:10 UTC
But please don't copy movie!Narcissa's hairstyle.
