[ Petyr Baelish doesn't remember the last time he woke up with no recollection of where he was or how he got there. He also doesn't remember the last time that it was truly panic that gripped his heart

[ She almost raised her voice then, as Arya wrenched her wrist downwards, making Alayne stumble forward with little to catch herself save her sister's shoulder. She was good at lying, Arya was; Alayne had seen it many times for herself already, but in this - this man, Alayne Stone's father - she feared Arya would not be steadfast, that her lies would flicker and fail. For Arya Stark had had a father once and Alayne wondered if her heart loved him still.
Sansa Stark's heart would have, surely, if her heart still knew how to beat. But Alayne had dismantled it - pulled it apart and set it aside - for only in becoming the mockingbird's daughter had she had hope of surviving.
But in seeing those wide grey eyes, in knowing their apprehension, Alayne found her voice stuck to the inside of her throat. Whatever irritation she felt quieted and then, as she pulled her wrist back to herself, fell away completely. Even if Arya faltered, Alayne knew that she could not. ]
He will protect us, [ were the words she said, though her expression spoke differently.
[He is not my father, she wanted to say. He is a Lannister's puppet. But she said nothing. Littlefinger was here, now, and she had to remember that he was not Littlefinger anymore. He was her father. And if that unsettled her, she was to ignore it. There were more important things at stake. So she whispered, so quiet she was almost only mouthing the words, afraid the device would pick her up.]
[ Oh, if Arya had spoken those words to Alayne, her answer would have been sharp and quick. She had learned many things at Petyr Baelish's side and even more at the side of Littlefinger, and what she had first suspected and now knew without a doubt was this: Littlefinger is no man's puppet; if he moves it is because he wishes to be moved or to seem as though he has little choice in the matter. The world was full of players and pieces and though Sansa Stark had been a pawn, Petyr Baelish's daughter is moved by no one save by Petyr himself.
Alayne bent at the waist, brought her face close to Arya's so that her whisper could remain as soft as breath and still be heard. ]
I will tell him, and he will know what to do. [ Slowly, she nodded, nodded until Arya nodded back, nodded with her. Agreement between two sisters, such complicit little creatures. ] And, if he wishes to be kind, perhaps he will help your blade find a Lannister spine. [ Alayne stares at her sister in silence, then urges her to take up her own device with her hands. ]
[Arya hesitated, but the nod came, slowly. Agreement, yes - but as the concern faded, it became an agreement between two siblings, brother and sister, parted and reunited. Arya picked up her device awkwardly, uncertain for a long moment. Then she spoke to her sister's father.]

Now greet him. As a lord protector deserves.
