Thankfully, there's less widespread destruction than you'd get with your standard vid apocalypse. Although the jury's still out on plague.

This is true! It's pretty put-together, just creepy due to lack of ... well, people. And working electronic stuff.

Though a plague might explain a lot.

Plague, yet-unknown weapon, assailants whose only interest is in organic beings...

Aside from some of the people? Any unusual shifts in the environment. They tend to mean trouble - but none of us have been here long enough to be able to reliably predict what sort.

The people is almost expected, unfortunately. But what kind of shifts have happened so far? Might be able to figure out a pattern off that.

There haven't been enough to put together a pattern, aside from 'something unfortunate is going to happen soon'. Memory-eating trees and killer snow sculptures don't have much in common - and neither do the expansion of our prison and the sudden onset of deep winter.
