Finding Erik in the common room, he'll walk over, clearing his throat softly to alert the other of his presence, before smiling in greeting.
"I hope you're not busy...?" As if Erik wanted time alone to ponder with his drink he would leave him be, but honestly he would rather the other spoke to him. Let him in. Erik kept too much to himself, and while he could go in and find it all out on his own, he would rather Erik told him on his own.

"No. Pull up a chair." Erik gestured, shifting the helmet to the coffee table, letting it sound with a heavy 'thunk' on the wood. It was a temptation, to place it on, to block out any potential attacks from any of the other telepaths wandering around the city.
But in doing so, he knew that Charles would perceive it as a lack of trust in him. So he'd leave it off, for now.

But as he takes a seat, Charles finally notices that helmet, and his eyes narrow a bit. He only knew what it was from what the children told him of it. From Shaw's attack on the CIA.
"... is that-?" His eyes flicker to Erik, looking uneasy. Charles doesn't like the implication of it, doesn't like Erik having it.

"Yes. A man by the name of Nathan Drake found it with a little tag addressed to myself." He pressed his lips together for a moment, his eyes never leaving the object.
"Seems what Azazel said about the future is true."
Reply
"I believe I've stumbled into him once before, he was a nice enough man." Nice enough to jump in and risk his life for him, that was certainly a nice enough man. He was glad he gave Erik the helmet, with hopefully little trouble.
"... and what he does say of the future. Does it please you?" A careful question.

"He stated I killed Shaw." Erik snorts, a quirk of a smirk on his lips, then. "It makes sense--only way to truly get his helmet is if I did." He looked up at Charles, regarding him evenly.
"You know exactly how it makes me feel, and I know you don't like it."
Reply
"You are allowed to feel as you please, regardless if I like it or not." And as much as Charles hates this knowledge that Erik does kill Shaw, he knows no matter how he wanted it not to happen, that there probably was no other way. No, there was no other way to end that. Shaw wasn't something someone could lock in a cell and toss away the key. He was too powerful for that.
There was only one way to keep him from hurting others, from causing more trouble, but it still bothered Charles. He hated that the only way to stop killing, to stop murder, was to do the same.
"... so what are you planning to do with it?" His eyes fall to said helmet, regarding it, not liking it or what it stands for. Not one bit.

At his friend's other question, Erik simply shook his head, taking another drink.
"I don't know. It could prove useful." Again, something Charles probably didn't want to hear.

But that helmet had been made to primarily keep him out of Shaw's head. So what was keeping Erik from doing the same. The very sign of distrust if he did use it for that.
Reply
He's had enough people accusing him of various things since he's gotten here. To have Charles give him the look as well is more than frustrating. Apparently no one trusts him here except Pyro. Wonderful.

The sight of it made him feel uneasy.

"I understand you feel uncomfortable around it. But it seems that you also don't trust me, like most people here. I'd be more than willing to move out."
He needs this place to be safe for him. He's got enough accusations coming from Alex, from Sean, from Hank. If Charles is going to start doing that, this place has no use for him anymore.

"There is no need to leave, and while you can, I would feel much better with you at my side here." Fingers thread into one another as he looks up at Erik.
"Things are not easy right now, different times and knowledge of possible futures... everyone is on edge, everyone is uncomfortable. But I want you to understand that no matter what anyone could accuse you of, you are still my friend and I will stand beside you. And difficulties aside, I hope I can expect the same of you."

He moves to make another drink, then retakes his seat, looking at Charles seriously.
"You can. All I want is us by each other's side...leading them. Leading all of them, even the idiots who seem can't separate the future from the current."
Reply
"I apologize, I suppose it just puts me on edge. I shouldn't let it get to me, it is in good hands after all." And trying to explain to Erik why it made him feel so uneasy wouldn't be possible. Erik wouldn't understand unless he was like him, unless he was a telepath as well.
"I trust you, my friend, I have no reason not to." And a warm smile, a chuckle leaves him at Erik's last bit.
"Idiots aside, I am very fond of this idea of yours. We work well together, you and I, I would very much like to stay by your side and guide them. To the best of our abilities that is."
Reply
"The only thing I agree with all those others have said is the school idea. Honing mutants powers, creating a full safe haven for them, away from the humans."
