[ Up comes Alex, hands in pockets, looking all of the uncomfortable that he is about this. But the logic stood that wandering around alone in this new, probably dangerous, place wasn't the best idea. He doubt Claire would really be much help, but at least there'd be one left to report or call for help if either of them got into something.

He approaches and stops a good ten feet away from her, giving a nod instead of bothering to take his hands from his pockets to wave. Then jerks his head back towards the streets leading out of the city square, indicating they ought to go. ]

Ready?

Yeah.

[This is all she says as she jogs over to catch up to him, and walks in silence as she takes several long strides ahead of him so she can be the one leading the way.

She glances up at him, the look on her face stony and scrutinizing, and she crosses her arms over her chest.

Yep, this is going to be a fun adventure. But oh wait, she has an idea for this outing.]

I brought some buttons with me, so we can leave one as a marker for each area we look over. I've had a few people tell me that after you try to get past a certain point you just end up turned around, so maybe this will act like a bread crumb trail and we can make sure we don't hit the same places twice. Not that landmarks aren't enough to go by, but I thought it might help.

[ He gives a snort of a laugh at her skipping ahead. Well, if she really wanted to lead, okay. Not like he had anywhere special he wanted to go.

His eyebrows slowly raise as she goes on the bread crumb trail explanation. God, she can talk. But it's... actually a pretty decent plan. ]

Yeah, makes sense. [ He stops for a second, looking around down a few streets. A hand comes out of his pocket to point down one. ] Think I saw something like Visitors Center down that way.

Let's start there, then. [Nodding, she marches forward, leading the way down the street. As they walk, she tries her best to think up conversation, anything at all to fill the silence.]

So...

Did you wake up in a bodybag, or the freezer? [Yeaaaaaaaaaah, most awesome conversation topic EVER.]

[ He wanders along with her, totally okay with it being silent. Preferring it that way. But apparently that's not going to happen :| Welp. ]

Freezer. [ He keeps a good distance away from her, hands stuffed in his pockets. There's a decent pause before he speaks again, figuring he ought to... make an attempt. Or something. Whatever. ] You?

[ Yeah, some attempt. ]

The table. At least it was a lot easier to wake up there this time around.

[Yeah, she has...no idea how fucked up or creepy that sounds. Sorry, Alex. As the walk down the street and pass an intersection, she grabs one of the buttons and tosses it over on the walkway.]

[ That... gets an eyebrow quick. 'This time around'? ]

Not new to you?

[ He glances behind to watch the button spin in a little circle before falling flat. Because that's... so interesting. :| ]

I've woke up in one before. I was a little more...sliced open that time. [And nope, she's not going to elaborate on that, she just pauses and glances over at him to watch his reaction.]

It's a lot easier to get out of a hospital and find decent clothes when you don't have to worry about your guts falling out. [The way she smiles then could lead someone to believe she's joking around. Even though she isn't, but hey.]

[ . . . wat. He almost stops walking for a second ]

And you... lived? With your guts falling out? [ Yeah, he's just going to take her completely seriously, because 'sliced open at the time'. Sorry, Claire :'| ]

I put myself back together again.

[She shrugs.]

It's a thing that I do. Like a superhero, without the being super part.

[Huh. He's taking her really seriously, which is...a weird reaction. Usually people just think she's messing around or being too imaginative for her own good.]

Unless that freaks you out too much, and in that case, forget I shared my morgue story at all.

[ Huh, a power. There's a lot more mutants here than just the ones at the X-Mansion. Maybe she's from the same place as Scott? Whatever the... school thing was. ]

So you're a mutant. [ Said totally offhand, nonchalant. It's a fact.

And then a wry line-face at the last part. ] Gonna have to do better than that to freak me out.

Never been called that before, but sure, why not. I'm a mutant.

[She stops walking and looks up at him, trying to read more into his reaction than she really needs to. She wants to ask what he knows about being a mutant, but isn't sure if this is the time or the place. Anyone could be listening in.]

What kind of freaky things are you used to seeing?

What else do you call it?

[ An honest question. There was no one who believed him enough to call him any specific name before Charles had given him the whole mutation speech. He had no idea how it went for anyone else.

Aaaand the next part makes him pretty visible tense. He's just going to be annoying vague about it. ] ...Just power stuff.

[ AND YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE A GREAT SUBJECT CHANGE? The Visitors Center, which they're just coming into range of. He points, picking up the pace a little. ] There. That's it. Come on.

It doesn't have a name where I'm from. I guess people with powers have been recorded as being around as early as the 1960's, but that was a long time ago and there's still no actual name for people like us back home. [She frowns, wishing she had a better response to that.

BUT YAY! Visitor's Center, which is a nice change of pace. She jogs her way into the building and looks around the main room.]

You'd think that there would at least be a robot here working this place, if so many of us showed up here at the same time.

...Two years ago? [ Hi, 1962 here. ] Nah, it's earlier than that. Just that no one's noticed.

[ He's wandering into the Visitors Center, and a pleasant little chime sounds as they open the door. Creepy. He goes to a wall with some pamphlets on it, but turns his head back to quirk an eyebrow at her. ] Anyone ever tell you you've got an over-active imagination?

Try over forty. [She finally responds to his first remark, turning to look at him with a worried look on her face. So he's from the sixties? And she's definitely not, and there's multiple people around with the same face, and...

Oh god, what is this place?]

We both just woke up in a morgue in some creepy place that's always dark, and you think having robots around makes me have an overactive imagination? I'm from 2007, Alex.
