[Stepping into the shoes of the Shadow Broker was one thing, but having to rebuild her network was another entirely. She had spent time setting up an entire new operation: papers hidden with information, pencils she had collected, parts from electronic devices that she had attempted to pull apart. Sure she had studied technology but she was starting to realise that she was not as well versed with human tech as she had thought previously. It was a shame she had yet to find a library of some sorts and operations manuals were not as helpful as she had thought they would be.

At least pulling apart appliances proved to be fascinating.

She needed to be more careful though, as she looks up quickly to see the council spectre. Liara kicked herself mentally that she should have known better then to let herself be distracted by the electronics considering the dangers but for now she had to play it off. Calm and cool.]

Nihlus. How good to see you. [She says, smiling a bit.] I apologise it is a bit of a mess. I was not expecting to have company

[He picks his way through the mess of disassembled electronics with care. At least Legion wasn't the only one making a mess of their home.] I'm afraid the apologies are mine to make, doctor. [There's a small space where he can stand close enough to speak conversationally with Liara and he takes it.] I should have contacted you beforehand. You'll have to forgive me, I was fairly excited to speak with you.

[He glances over his shoulder, takes in the mess.] Though... if you're busy, I could come back another time.

[He was excited! Well that was a good sign. She stands up to greet him proper, resting her hands at her side.] I'm not busy at all. Quite a bit of this can wait until another day. I'm still learning much about human technology.

I was hoping for a book, but I can't seem to find anything useful.

[She dusts her hands off on a pair of slacks she had found in some clothing store earlier on in her week.] Is there something I can help you with? [She hadn't seen him since she arrived. ...Oh goddess how long ago was that?]

[He folds his hands behind his back, picking his way around the room once again.] Actually, I was wondering if you would like to accompany me on a walk. An exploration of the city. It seemed like something you'd be interested in. And-[He stops, turning back to face her.-as I said, I was hoping to speak with you.

[He ducks his head, almost bashful as he continues.] When I was alive I was a... fan of your work.

That would be nice. I don't remember the last time I just took a walk. [She thought about it, and it wasn't such a bad idea. Her work here could wait, and it would give her some time to spend with the spectre and explore the city. At least her true work was well hidden.]

You were? I had no idea. [That was exciting to hear. She didn't believe many people were interested in her work with the Protheans, or with her papers in general.] I cannot thank you enough for reading my research. There is still so much more the galaxy has to offer about the Protheans, I only hope I can uncover something of their culture in my life time.

[Her enthusiasm makes him smile. He walks back over to her, picking up a dismantled toaster or something and studying it.] Perhaps until then you could focus your energy on uncovering something about our current location. It might not be as interesting as the Protheans but it seems just as mysterious. [He places the dismantled object back down, chuckling light.] Though it seems you've already started.

[He rifles through some other objects curiously.] How long have you been doing this, Dr. T'Soni?

Most of the technology is from the twenty first century I am told, and unfortunately most of it doesn't work like ours. It may take a while to completely understand what happened here. [She looks over the pieces scattered across the ground.] Whoever lived in Abax before we arrived did have an interesting culture considering the fashion and style of the appliances.

[She thinks about it, her hand touching her forehead briefly as she shakes her head.] Taking apart the technology? I am not certain. Since the last I spoke with you, I believe. [She laughs a bit, feeling a little silly.] Unless you mean my work with the Protheans, then that is significantly longer than my time here.

[He glances up at her, surprised amusement written across his face. There's a laugh hidden in his subvocals when he speaks.] It's been at least a month since your arrival, Dr. As fascinating as this [he lifts up a mess of wires and cords.] antique technology is, does it really merit a month's worth of attention?

[Of course he knows the answer. It's as much a part of T'Soni's job to be utterly fascinated by useless antiques as it's his to find a way out. Shaking his head, he places down the bundle of wires and walks around the table to meet Liara face to face.]

Walk with me.

Perhaps not worth a month, but they have been quiet fascinating. Twentieth century human technology, or what it appears to be from an era where technology was advancing at an alarming rate. [She laughs a bit.] It must seem silly pulling apart appliances when I could likely ask purpose or use to those around me here.

[She nods, setting down her project onto the nearest table. Hopefully she'll get one of these appliances working so she can continue her work of information brokering in the future.]

Of course, I'd love to. [She motions for him, looking forward to the walk with him.]

[His mandibles lift into a small smile that drops quickly. He twists on his heel, turning around and leading the way out. He waits at the door, holding it open for her.]

Have you heard about the loop effect?

[He speaks simply-as if mentioning the weather in conversation.]
