Characters: Amy Pond and open When: Monday Where: Outside the apartment What: Needing a few moments. Open or Closed? Open Rating/Warnings None. ( It's a nuclear show and the stars are gone )
[It had been just over a week since Peggy arrived and despite understanding where she was, she still found it a bit unsettling. She was grateful for the fact that she had people here she knew, people that she could rely upon. Despite this, Peggy was quite an independent woman and she wanted to explore this place for herself. Being cooped up inside all of the time didn't suit her.
Wrapping her coat tightly around herself, Peggy ventured out of the place she shared and into the cold air, burying her hands deep within the pockets. One thing she missed was the sun but as far as she was aware, that wasn't going to change anytime soon. It seemed that it would remain dark for quite a while, perhaps forever.
She passed a few apartments along her way, minding her own business when a strange sound caught her attention. Curious, Peggy stopped, turning around to locate the source of it. There was a red-haired woman outside with something in her hand; could it be the what was making the strange sound?]
[Once upon a time, Amy had been rather personable. Or at least she was good enough around people. But that had been a different Amy, and it was hard relearning societal norms. Especially when she was completely in a different society. And living with elves.
That wasn't to say she was exactly rude. So when the other woman stopped to say hello, the redhead looked up at her and gave a quick smile. She tipped the sonic so it would stop whirring.]
[There was a smile in return from Peggy as she approached the woman, lowering her hand and sticking it back in her pocket again. She came to a stop about two feet away: close enough to hear each other but enough space to give them both space to breathe.]
I hope I'm not intruding upon anything? I just heard a strange noise and I was wondering what it was.
[ Galadriel's temperament was ill suited for idleness. While she had patience aplenty when needed, she wasn't fond of doing nothing, of waiting and seeing, especially in a situation such as this. She would rather be out and about, hopefully finding out something about Abax that wasn't already known. That's why she's braving the chill, about to take a walk when she spots Amy not too far away.
She had met Amy Pond upon her arrival, the other woman being one of the people invited to stay at the camp, but hadn't had the chance to get to know her any better yet. Curiosity piqued, she approaches near soundlessly as elves are wont to do, clasping her hands in front of her as she halts a respectable distance away.
Galadriel speaks softly so as not to startle Amy, but her words are blunt and to the point. ]
[Amy moves back on the step, allowing room for the other before looking up. Unfortunately, she had been troubled for thirty six years.]
No more than usual. [She just needed a moment. Sometimes being with Rory was so hard for her to bare. It wasn't that she didn't want to be around him, she just didn't want the emotions that were attached. Not when she had her hopes of leaving once.]
[ There was a strain upon the woman, that was obvious to the elf even without special powers of perception. She could have reached out and found out the source, but it wasn't her place to do so without a pressing need to find out the truth of things. With a small, compassionate smile, Galadriel inclines her head slightly in understanding. ]
Would you wish to speak of it? At times it is easier to talk truthfully with strangers than those closest to us. Or should I leave you to your solitude, instead?
[Shepard had never been one for staying still and doing nothing, and land-bound, she was wont to go stir-crazy in short order without a specific task. Learning the twists and turns of the city's core wasn't much of one, but it was something - and more importantly, something that didn't require running repeatedly into the futility of trying to work with the demented, faulty mechanisms left available.
It was the whir and beep of technology that drew her notice, when she might otherwise leave a stranger who seemed to be seeking solitude be. The sound drew her over, however, footfalls quiet in spite of her long stride and straight carriage.]
No. Built it here, but it-- [She waved it. The readings had been completely off or nonexistent. At first Amy thought it had been the tree, but it still didn't work.] The readings are off.
Something here seems to be interfering with most sensors. [And with them. She hadn't failed to notice the fact that the borders of the district seemed to wrap around if she tried to go too far.
She canted her head slightly, scrutinizing the device with eyes narrowed in thought.]
It doesn't look like 20th-Century Earth tech. You were able to cobble it together from parts?

In my world, it's called a sonic screwdriver, only I don't have all the parts for it, yet.

[Yes, she's aware of the age gap.] Something happened back-- where I came from. For him, it was only weeks, but I was trapped for almost four decades.

I did. I've done it before on another planet. It's a probe.
