While out and about, the small girl had begun wandering around to make sure she knew all her escape routes should any trouble come her way and with her life well...there was a lot of trouble. Though, Nill had to admit she enjoyed the downtime of nothing but silence with Heine and calm nights with Amy ( ... )

[It is a rare moment, Nill but yes he's actually having fun, even when he ends up upside down like a pill bug.

For a long while he didn't notice being watched, caught up in his own head and so used to the bombardment of the thoughts of others that sometimes he missed an approach. It wasn't until he went tumbling across a bit of snow near the edge of the lake that he noticed the young girl with ...]

You have wings.

[Its a statement of fact, a hint of curiosity but no suspicion or disbelief. Hello probably would have been more polite but Charles' manners were an occasional prospect at best.]

Oh dear, oh dear. She fumbled at the edge of the ice and hurried to fold her wings tight against her back with hopes that her hair would cover most of the small feathers that poked out.

Shyly, she fiddled with her hair and glanced up at him sheepishly though still with worry for the fell he took on the ice. Looking down, she barely touched the ice with her foot only to draw back in fear.

[When she tucked the wings away, he tilted his head at her and gave her a small smile.]

I didn't mean to make you self conscious. They look really splendid.

[And fascinating but he kept his inquisitive genetic professor to himself. Instead, he watched as she tested the ice.]

Its slippery. [He agreed, scooting across the surface towards her.] But it can be fun, would you like to try?

[Erik's come to look at the damn tree the took his memories. His own are back now, and as far as he can tell, without any holes.

But if there were holes, well. How would he truly be able to tell if they weren't large? Small things could be missing, and he'd never know. Erik had locked so much of himself away at one time or another...he had even forgotten some of his own good memories naturally. Charles had shown him that.

So without a Charles to tell him what he'd lost...he'd never know. A sobering, sad thought.

It's these thoughts that first plague him at the edge of the lake...which are quickly replaced with ones of amusement as he watches a young man out on the ice, laughing and flailing.

It puts a smile on his face, despite himself. Here is someone who's clearly been through a great deal (like himself), but can find happiness.

Erik wonders if he is even capable of that, anymore.

He says nothing, instead just chooses to watch Charles. He might not join in, but he can appreciate from the sidelines.]

[Charles has been getting more adventurous, winding up a running start and then seeing how far he can slide. Of course, this often winds up with him over balancing one way or the other and ending up sliding on either his ass or his knees but he doesn't seem to mind ( ... )

Mr. Xavier.

[Erik gives a slight nod, and then smiles slightly.]

I'm fine. Memory fully restored, as far as I can tell.

[He gestures with one hand out onto the ice.]

It seems you were enjoying yourself....never actually been out on the ice myself.

[No real places in the city where he came from.]

[Have a confused look.]

Technically speaking it would be Pro ... [He begins stops and wrinkles his nose.] Actually no, I'll never teach so technically speaking it would be Doctor Xavier but honestly I'd prefer Charles.

[There is no aggression in his clarification, simply, clarification. He nodded to the news about Erik's memories and then glanced back towards the ice. Had he been enjoying himself? He gives it some thought.]

It brought back memories, of games Raven and I used to play when we were young. I'm sorry you didn't have any frozen lakes in the city you come from. It can be a great deal of fun, though skates would probably be more appropriate.

[The memory bullshit seems to be over but this area isn't gone yet, what that means she's not sure. Except that no monsters have popped up yet.

Still feelin' that old itch, Sunshine? Guess you haven't changed as much as you think.

She doesn't answer his taunts, but he's too busy laughing at himself anyway. This is the most talkative he's been in weeks and it's not as though she enjoys listening to him, but she isn't in the mood to argue that he's wrong. The urge to kill anything for no other reason than she needs to still exists, but it's just been dampened by an overall confusion of their new predicament, among other things. As annoying as the gods were, at least they spoke every once and a while about what was going on.

She stalks around the trees-- wearing her lingerie-like clothes with Carver's jacket partially covering her. She pauses when she hears noise by the lake, but when she sneaks over to get a look it's just some idiot sliding around on the ice.]

[Yes, no doubt he did look a right idiot about then but Charles couldn't find it in himself to give much of a damn. He wasn't out here to impress anyone, simply a man reliving memories that kept him company in this lonely city.

If he became aware of the close presence of another mind, he gave no indication, though it was possible that he didn't notice her any more than he noticed the others about the city. It really was a fairly confusing cacophony of noise inside his head.]

[She watched him quietly for a while, wondering how someone could be out fooling around on the lake like nothing happened.

Heh. Scared of some ice?

It was barely even a taunt, but her tolerance level for him was lowered during his silent period. She stepped closer to the edge of the lake, and after a minute shouted out to the man.]

Trying to crack your head open? [It was... something like a greeting. In her mind at least.]

[Well he hadn't been trying to crack his head open but at the sudden sound of her voice, he went pinwheeling, legs sliding out from beneath him as he lost his balance and crashed down on the ice. Laying there, he blinked at her as if her question were the most perplexing thing he'd heard before shaking his head.]

I wasn't trying to, no. At least not until you startled me.

[ After that fleeting - truly it was the most brief of interactions Erik had ever had in his life, when he sought to make most of them last - introduction to Charles, he had at least taken the man's sensible advice, find some clothes, get out of the hospital. The man had also done him the luxury of providing some further advice, confusing as it was - find the one who looked like him, find the other... Erik, if that was his name. Or so, Erik assumed, because keeping the name would be the most obvious step if this was a trap. Looks could be replicated, motions imitated, but it was your personal information that made the biggest difference between life and death.

The man had also given him considerable additional advice, the phone and communication. It had taken him a while to work it - not entirely fond of the sheer fact that devices were infinitely more complicated than they were when he was around them. It looked like a simple phone from what he was told, but messaging? Talking to everyone? Right. Erik had never been fond of that, ( ... )

[Charles caught the motion of a hand out of the corner of his eye and turned towards it automatically, wondering who wanted him now? He blinked in surprise at seeing Erik but wait, no that was ... well technically it was Erik Lehnsherr, just not the one Charles was used to hearing from.

For a moment he considered staying out in the middle of the ice just because the press of minds was starting to get to him but, the man was being polite and Charles could appreciate that. So he skitter skidded back over to the edge of the lake, head tilted, bird like, at the man.]

Hello again, Mr. Lehnsherr. Have you had a chance to get in communication with the people I directed you towards?

oxidantshappen December 21 2011, 00:53:39 UTC
No. [ He had a chance technically, though Erik hadn't chosen to follow through on it, preferring to map out the city on his own, but the distraction of the tree had brought him here to begin and by the time Erik made his way from the hospital to the park, he had nearly all but forgotten the names of the men he was told to search for.

Shrugging, he continued. ] I mean, I could but I wouldn't know where to begin; [ The contact list had been less than helpful, and the phone all things considered was far from his own preferred method of conversation. ] it seems like such an unnecessary waste of time to use this. [ Said as he held out the device in his hand, giving it a quick shake before it returned to the security of his pants pockets. ]

You must be the same man I spoke to back in the hospital then. I never did get your name that time.

[For a long moment, Charles just stood there and blinked but after about a minute of awkward silence, he gave up trying to sort through what the man had actually said and what he'd been thinking.]

Yes, well. You should make time to contact them, they'll be able to help you and it will also avoid some unnecessary confusion for a lot of people. The tree does not appear to be a threat any longer and truly I don't know how it fits in with the over all mystery of this place but I think for now, we're just ... looking at a tree.

[Speaking of which, he glanced out towards it, frowning with a puzzled expression before shaking himself back to the conversation.]

Your phone is important to learn about as it will be your quickest form of communication, though not the quickest, I should probably send out word about you to myself and yourself. Maybe one of them could come down here and meet you directly, yes I think that would be an absolutely splendid idea.

[Reaching up with his fingers to his temple, the conversation paused for a moment ( ... )

Charles was getting close to tiring himself out with his game on the ice. He was vaguely aware of being cold, though the activity in his mind held most of his attention.

Slowly, he made his way back over to the lake edge where he'd left his notebook and pencil. Picking them both up, he trudged through the snow towards a nearby bench. He'd just sit, catch his breath for a moment and then figure out what he was going to do next.

He wanted to go down to the train station but his feet felt squishy in wet socks, hmm might have to take care of that sooner rather than later.
