So I'm working on a project at work that is a redesign on a handbook for a group that is called the Master Gardeners. I'm working on the handbook for the Alabama chapter. In this handbook is everything anyone could possibly would want to know about plants and gardening. It has about 16 chapters with different authors for each chapter. Now the process is a tedious one. The author send the content to the editor, when the editor is done the content goes to the designer (me), then I place the text, images, etc. in the template. Then the chapter goes back to the editor and from the editor back to me if there is anything else that needs to be changed, and then once it is all done to a finishing point it goes back to the author for review. then The author decides if there needs to be any more changes. Then the whole process starts over again. Now that can be frustrating at times esp. when the design has been all fine tuned and more content has to be placed in the chapter. Then more adjustments have to be made to ensure that everything looks well. But this doesn't frustrate me nearly as much as when some idiot author that knows nothing about images sends us a microsoft word file as the image. Nope that doesn't work. Image files that are to be printed need to be in preferably Tiff, eps or jpeg. Even Biitmaps or giffs work depending on what type of look you are going for, but for Christ's sake! a doc file with the image inside it?!?!?!?! It's a word doc with an image inside it, not an image file!!
IDIOTS!
