The sea and the rhythm there

I couldn't stay away today. She was calling me to come home.

The sunshine came pouring in my window this morning, and I rolled over and over going back to sleep for just one more minute. Up at 8:00 to meet Wil to start doing design consultation for his construction company. Picking out sweet paint colors, easy money. I'm actually putting my art degree to good use! Who would have thought? I stretched and gessoed 4 canvasses last night and will be starting my new round of paintings sooner rather than later. I meant go to the studio today, but I can't pass up a free day of sunshine in the winter.

The day was just heating up when I rolled down to Luffenholtz Beach for a morning respite. The tide was higher than I've ever seen it, so I stayed on the rocks, lifting my arms to the sunshine in solitude. There is nothing like a t-shirt and flip flops in January. Boy, I tell you what.

I met up with Chris for breakfast tacos at my place and we spent the lunch hour in the treehouse behind my place, smoking spliffs and cracking jokes. We were checking out hot chicks running on the path in the Marsh, one of whom was my friend Becca. I fucking love this town. I chill out in my yard and run into my friends. And get to catcall them. With chicken noises. Yes.

Onward! To the forest! To the mountains! To the the narrow strip of land where the sun meets the waves and the wind. The sun sinks low in the west and the moon rises over our shoulders as we scour the sand for bones, seaweed, shells and twisted driftwood.

One really appreciates such extravagant luxuries such as motor vehicles, heaters, wine, sausages and garlic bread when an exhausted human popsicle.

Tomorrow's agenda: morning date for coffee and conversation, revelling in sunshine, decadence.
