[For Lex]A business transaction

The frigid weather that had overtaken the island several days before did not bother Enjolras terribly. He was perfectly content to find a nice quiet spot indoors and read for hours, and he had even began straying from politics, law and history, delving into the natural sciences that so preoccupied Combeferre, though he still found most of it rather useless and uninteresting.

He had lost track of how long he had been sitting in a corner of the rec room, absorbed in a collection of Rousseau's essays that he found far more engaging than Combeferre's philosophy books. With a sigh he lifted his head and rubbed his eyes, then fished his pocketwatch out to check the time. Merde, it's been hours. He snapped the cover closed on the pocketwatch once again, rubbing his thumb over the surface as he debated whether to continue reading or to attend to other things--such as a meal and some physical movement--before turning his attention to some writing.
