Yummy yum yum!

Had dinner at this totally rocking place called Basil Aclove, recommended by local dodgy pedal maker and homebrew extraordinaire, Edwin Tan. So it was with the DIA guys, local dodgy pedal dealer MrMisse and local dodgy boutique pedal owner and sound artist non-pariel Bryan! Willy and Ah Seng from The Love Experiment were having their class reunion nearby too. Basil Aclove is located on the outside of Fortune Centre, near NAFA.

Anyway back to the food. Amazing stuff. Photos taken from Dr Leslie Tay's food blog, ieatishootipost.blogspot.com, seeing how we all had one beer too many and forgot to take photos!

I had a Bacon and Mushroom Aglio Olio and an Apple Bratwurst with greens.

The pasta was so-so. Too much oil, not enough garlic and thus not very tasty. The Apple Bratwurst was lovely though. The sausage was not too salty and the apple bits give it that slight sweetness and crunch that made each mouthful very enjoyable. The mashed potatoe that came with it was just nice too: smooth with a few chunks for bite and not too much butter or salt.

Edwin and MrMisse had the roast lamb. Done just right (ask for medium rare) with a melt in your mouth texture and well seasoned with mixed herbs. Not the best cut of lamb (a little too much fat) but the preparation of it was excellent.

Basil Aclove also offers a large selection of excellent beers! Fuller's London Pride is a light and tasty ale that went excellently with the bratwurst and sausage platter. We also had Duwell's which was a stronger ale but was light and fruity. Yum. The kicker is the price. My two courses came to only about $18 and with a beer, total was less than $30. Kickass pricing for excellent, fine dining styled food.

Ok here's Chef Xander.

He's a cool and friendly dude that come up to us after the place was closing (we were still nursing our beers), with his long hair tied in a topknot-esque fashion. Seeing how much we enjoyed his food (and his beer) he even gave us a second order of Mixed Sausage Platter. Rocks!

Overall a good experience. Can't wait to go again!
