I submitted two plays to Rareworks, and Diana is one of the judges who gets to pick them, and will also be directing one. She just called to ask me which were mine, but first she wanted to guess which one was mine. She guessed right, but then I reminded her that I had submitted two, which she'd forgotten, so I told her which other one was mine. Turns out that the other one (the bathtub play) is the one she's dying to direct, and mine were the ONLY TWO PLAYS out of 45 submitted plays that she gave a full 5points to. She gave seven plays 4.5s.
This is epic to me. Diana is so ingrained in theatre so I really respect her opinion. The fact that she just so happened to pick my two plays as her favorite is about the best compliment she could give me. Even if they don't get selected (although her opinion gives me hope), it makes me feel extremely successful.
Seriously. I think this is going to be my career. I will always write fiction and nonfiction, but I think playwrighting is my moneymaker. EEEEP.
