amounts of fun to be had at work today. Mike and I showed up at 5:45 as required, and understand that it is POURING and the wind is blowing so hard that you basically have to walk at a 90-degree angle. No manager. We wait. And wait. When it hits six, I call Jenn, the head manager. No answer. I call her again at 6:15, and then she calls me back. Guy is opening --which is odd because he is NEVER late. She tells us to go hang out in Dunkin' Donuts and call her if Guy hasn't showed up by 6:30 (we open at 6 . . . ) Fortunately, he shows up right at 6:30. We open around 6:45.
So Mike and I got some good talking and bonding in. I still maintain that he can be a total dick, but as long as he and I are friends, that doesn't really bother me. Keegan called to say he was going to be fifteen minutes late --was thirty. Phil shows up at the same time as Keegan, on time. Kevin arrives an hour late. So it's me and all these boys working, and everything about the morning is just weird. The rain, the marathon, Patriot's Day, no school, work. Our assortment of people working, though, was SOOOO much fun. It reminded me how much I prefer boys to girls, haha. It was like a daycare. We were all basically teasing each other non-stop, and even Keegan has gotten confident enough around me to joke around. Customers were in good moods because of the weather (it works opposite than you would think, beacuse crappy weather makes them happy to get coffee!) I was moer than a little disappointed that I only had a four-hour shift, because too soon it was time for me to leave. Jenn showed up around the end of my shift and apologized that she had me scheduled with all the boys but I loved it. If I could, I would work with all boys. They're stupid and dumb and funny and will do what you tell them without getting offended and don't talk behind your back and don't flip out because another boy is paying you more attention than them.
YAY straight boys! YAY work! YAY getting some homework done!
However, I am horribly unprepared for nationals. My poetry piece is ridiculously bad. I work twelve hours tomorrow. I'm not going to class so I can get stuff done. I really am wishing I hadn't agreed to take Audrey's shift because I'm really anxious at working at another store, and particularly opening at another store. Blech. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Gosh, this morning was fun. Now back to work!
