i've seen your flag on the marble arch- but love is not a victory march
I've been so inconsistent writing here... I have no excuse really, have just been busy at work and doing work stuff at home and etc.
Last friday I had off and L & I drove down to Niagara Falls for our work Christmas party. We stayed at the Fallsview Marriott and had quite lovely rooms overlooking the falls with a hot tub (with a window overlooking the falls) and a separate bathroom with shower. It was really nice, I quite liked it. There were about 30 people from our company & our sister company & CP, etc... I was a little nervous to be seen as sociable and meet people that i hadn't met before and make a good impression, etc, etc... so when we went up to Jim's room for a pre dinner drink, I ended up sitting on his chair and (somehow) drinking a whole small bottle of Bailey's. Then we all met downstairs and walked to a Brazilian restaurant where they brought tons of meat around... but I was too drunk to eat and mostly laughed and made jokes to Jim (L was on my other side with all the bigwigs to the other side of her) Then we walked back to the hotel, had a few more drinks in Jim's room and all met up again to go to Yuk Yuks... My boss kept buying pitchers of beer there, so that was quite nice for L & everyone else (I had 3 strawberry daquiris $15.) Then we all went back to the hotel and walked back to the Fallsview Casino... Lost a bit of money ($40) A. was kind of a dick to me, so I complained about him a bit as I sat in the hot tub that evening...
Was feeling a bit poorly, so that sucked... L & I went to the bird sanctuary in the afternoon and that was very cute ($30). A wild bird went on her hand, and there was this one part where you paid $2 for a shot glass of nectar and went into a room with all of these little parrots... I forget what they were called but they were green and cute and landed on us and drank the nectar and were really cute. I bought 2 glasses cos it was so cute. I was feeling a bit poorly, but walked along the falls with L... has a float in an old fashioned coca cola store and looked over the falls (It was a pretty warm and nice day.) Rode the incline railway back up to the hotel, had a relaxing time in the hot tub and then went to dinner.
Dinner was in a private room and was really good... afterwards my boss started to say a speech and talked about me! A lot of good stuff... It was really nice... I was touched. L kept saying how proud she was (I don't think she really knew/knows what my job entails.) Then we went over to another private room that was all set up for our poker tournament and was absolutely full of booze (and a video game machine with a ton of tokens!) L ended up winning the poker tournament (and $100) and I accidentally hugged one of the owners of our company.
It was a fantastic Christmas party... L kept saying she couldn't believe how extravagant it was (and I couldn't either...It was really, really nice.)
Have been sick since then, so that sucks... It's just a cold, but whenever I get a chest cold my asthma seems to make it so bad... I did half days monday & tuesday and stayed off yesterday but I can't keep doing that so I struggled through today... I think I'm on the mend, I'm just really tired, which sucks cos I have so much stuff I want to do around the house. I have this friend of FB from HS who posts about 5 things she is going to do (and presumably does) around her house every day... we are the same age... it makes me feel like a sloth. I think she only works PT but still...
