Now that it's clear that we're going nowhere, I asked if she might like a drink. She said she didn't mind that we just couldn't find that last missing link that could've made us complete. I wondered aloud, 'Was I ever so proud to think I could have so much sway?' And I watched her eat and I wished she would speak but I guess she had nothing to say. So I said with a wink, 'My dear, I do think, if we blink we could miss all that's left.' 'It's simple,' she sighed, with a tear in her eye, 'Just don't blink; there'll be nothing to miss.'
And though all to each other is all that we are, we left as we came, in our separate cars.
