you and a promise [unfinished]

i find it difficult
to remember why
you're bad for me
when you rasp your tongue
across the back of my neck
and wrap a hand-shaped bruise
around the curve of my hip

i find it so hard
not to smile
back at you
when you grin at me first
and toss raindrops away
with a shake of your head
and the slick slide of your eyes
run down the column of my throat

i find it impossible
not to bury my face
in the shirt i
borrowed from you
in an effort to catch the smell
of your laughter
as you ran a finger
over the edge of my shoulder
before your wrapped a ribbon
around my wrist
for luck, you said

i find i can't not
remember the smile
in your eyes
as you seriously
kissed my fingers one by one
and asked me to dance
in that silly orange boat
as the stars spun lazily
in the lake beside
around us

i find it too much
to ask of my self
to forget the feel of heat
soaking from your skin into mine
as you wrapped yourself around me
in an effort to hide me from nightmares
and singing nonsense to white white walls
as i played tic-tac-toe
on the back of your hand

i find it difficult
to remember why
you're bad for me
when there are so many
other things i'd rather
remember of you
