1. What is your favorite passage/line from a book?
"Hindsight, I think, is a useless tool. We, each of us, are at a place in our lives because of innumerable circumstances, and we, each of us, have a responsibility (if we do not like where we are) to move along life's road, to find a better path if this one does not suit, or to walk happily along this one if it is indeed our life's way. Changing even the bad things that have gone before would fundamentally change who we are now, and whether or not that would be a good thing, I believe, is impossible to predict."
-Drizzt Do'Urden, Sea of Swords
2. What do you consider the best film adaptation from a book? What do you think is the worst film adaptation?
Twilight and the Lord of the Rings series. Yeah I know that Lord of the Rings was off a bit with some things but the characters where pretty spot on to how I imaged them being. Twilight was really well done too. I think the worst book to movie I saw was Eragon. Soooo many things wrong with that movie I could cry.
3. What is the first book you remember reading?
Comanche by David Applegate
4. Did you have a favorite kids’ book as a child?
Little Bear books...I loved them.
5. What book did you hate reading for a school assignment?
Of Mice and Men. I read it in one night. I thought I would like the book, but it ended just as I was starting to get into it.
6. What is the most recent book you read (or are currently reading)?
Currently, Lords of Misrule, Armageddon's Children, Evermore, Eleven of Top, The Shack and Brsinger.
7. What book would you most like to see turned into a movie?
Any of Terry Brooks books...The Armageddon's Children would be pretty interesting to see as a movie.
8. What book did you cheat and read the “Cliff Notes” version?
Northhanger Abbey by Jane Austen. Okay so I had to read six of her novels in one class...so I cheated on one...I liked the other though.
9. What book would you never read again, no matter how much someone was going to pay you?
That is a tie between New Moon and Breaking Dawn (Or as my students renamed it, Breaking Headboards and Biting Pillows). I would say Breaking Dawn over New Moon...I might give New Moon another chance.
10. Are you more of a library or book store person?
I like stores...then I can take as much time as I want to read a book.
11. Have you tried audio books? Do you like them?
Yes, I have tried audio tapes and I like them.
12. Has any movie ever inspired you to then read the book on which it was based?
Tuck Everlasting, Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, Lord of the Rings (though I did read the books before the movie came out)
13. Describe a passage from a book that made you cry.
I remember the first time I cried reading a book. The end of The Silver Kiss, as the main character decides to let himself die. He steps into the sunlight and looks at the mortal girl he loves and says..."It does not hurt...Zoe" then fades away with him still holding her hand. Sooo sad and touching. I loved that book.
14. What is your favorite book series?
The Shannara series, Morganville Vampire Series, Melissa Marr's Faerie Series, Holly Black's Tithe Series and Terry Brook's Landover Series.
15. Describe your favorite place to read.
In bed or when I'm home alone on the couch.
