Random musings on Arashi

I miss them. I've missed them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the AraFes concert DVD, probably because it's been so long since I've seen the boys shine in their natural state. Some of you might disagree, I'm sure, but I haven't seen that in their latest TV shows. Things actually feel scripted in recent episodes to me - like an episode of that Share House ( Read more... )

You have written what I thought! And you know what.. slowly I'm really kinda wishing that their popularity would decrease... at least a bit. Cause it's becoming too much I think. You know I wasn't really happy when they announced they would do 24jikan Terebi again this year. Well of course it's great they are getting such good jobs.. but I really prefer the good old days when such things were still something special. I feel so far away from the boys right now although I'm nearer to them than I had ever been before. But they seem so unreachable nowadays. It makes me sad. I would love to see them do outdoor shootings for TV shows again.. I wish to get a Happiness-like PV again... I wish they could perform in smaller venues again... I wish for so much.. and everytime I complain about the recent stuff to my friends they kinda don't understand me. I think I have been in the fandom for too long... so I know all the phases they went through and I really wish 2006 - 2007 times back! I want the reachable dorky Arashi guys back in my life. Being an Arashi fan nowadays is just too frustrating and exhausting.

Sorry for ranting so much btw. XDDDD

Yeah, I hear you. It's just not special anymore when they do it all the time, isn't it?

I think it's that strange thing where the boys have to really become idols with their popularity - those unreachable figures looming over us on the top of pedestals - instead of the idiotic boy-next-door kids. That's why cranky older fans like us are all, Back in the day there were smaller, more intimate concert venues, Back in the day they ran loose doing air farts and air guitar and rolled around on futons in nothing but PJs on national TV. Meanwhile, die-hard fans are probably screaming, love them despite all!!!, and the fresh young'uns are all, what, what are you talking about, they're still dorky, what and we're the only ones stomping our feet, yelling, BUT - BUT - IT'S DIFFERENT. Ironically, it's their idiotic boy-next-door kid image that got them to where they are now.

..... aaaand here's a rant back right at'cha. :D;;

Exactly! It is exactly as you write it. Although I'm also a die-hard fan and will always love and support them. My heart will always belong to them... it's just so damn frustrating when you were there at the time there weren't THAT popular. Nowadays you have to be afraid of not getting specific con goods, merchandise or CDs/DVDs. I never before had experienced something like this. And it is so damn frustrating. You always need to be on the run ... and if you are a normal hard-working person then this is really not only time-intense but also takes so much energy. So with this after work you really just wanna get home and relax with a good Arashi filled TV show... but then you watch them and think "Well it was nice... but it just wasn't Arashi.... this was totally the script. I know normaly they would react more like this... "
But you know what.. I was totally refreshed yesterday while watching Kotatsu DE Arashi. I have to say this gave me a back to the old days kinda feeling. Seing their old shows and how the boys reacted to them. Also doing all those 10 second challenges. It was really fun and I would really hope for a show in which they let Arashi just sit down and do dorky stuff, talking normaly without everything scripted. But I know.. they are now Japan's No. 1 idol so this is as good as impossible. Everyone has their eyes on them so.... they have to mature and behave like the idols they are. Unfortunately ... but just hope that from time to time they can give us older fans what we crave.
