I would write about the whole trip, but my memory is completely fixated on one thing only.

Swallowtail Report )
Meh to Japanese and their "no photography" rule. Aoi sounds so cool! And Mr. P and the butlers too.
Still dying here from reading your account.

But I would definitely try it out for the experience.

The food is actually incredibly filling. We both ordered sets and none of them went over $30, which isn't bad considering the atmosphere, the service, and the quality of food (absolutely delicious and beautifully done). They have the portions just right so that we don't realize how full we actually are until the very end.
I ordered afternoon tea on the last day and even that filled me up, so the course menus are definitely worth it.
Of course, by now both Aki and I have long adjusted to Japanese portions so perhaps someone used to say, American-sized portions wouldn't be as satisfied?? >_<
At any rate, it certainly wasn't just a tiny salad. It is really very worthwhile, not just for the experience, but for the food.

I had to point out the salad because I am a meat-person. And an average meal with me would consist of main dish, 3-4 side dishes, 2 desserts, maybe 3 milkshakes, Coca Cola... So yeah, you can see why just salad alone would not fill me up.
But yes, the experience sounds awesome.

I might be back at the end of July, so don't go anywhere. :D
