I tried teaching the verb fall differently than I normally do. I deliberately fell on the floor, much laughter from students, and then I had the boys try to help me up. Much more laughter and half of them fell on me leaving me buried under a pile of students.
Woke up this morning and I can barely move my leg.
Oh well, gives me plenty of time to figure out what to do with this Raspberry Pi that is on my desk. I'll have to cancel my lunch date with a coworker, really nice gal who wants to show me pictures of her wedding, but I can do that another time.
Besides, I've been stalking her social media pages here in China for awhile, already seen them all.
For sure, if I was gay, I'd totally go for her husband. One of those odd cases where the groom outshines the bride. Not to say my friend is lacking in the looks department, she's quite attractive, but damn her husband looks like he steps off the pages of GQ every morning.
I really don't understand parents, in a different series of events, I stayed late to help one of my students finish his homework. My coworker, a Canadian, came into the office after his class and we came to find out that the student's parents make him take a taxi home on his own. We were both fairly surprised by this, in China, the entire family pitches in to make sure someone turns up to meet their kids after school.
I find it admirable that grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, and uncles have randomly popped in to pick my students after class. It is the right thing to do, a young kid of 11 years old shouldn't be required to flag a taxi on his own and be dropped off with no one waiting for him. I live in Northern China, we get a foot of snow on the ground and then it freezes over.
Taxi drivers then start extorting passengers for higher fares that are off the meter. They then cram in more passengers to jack up their earnings even more.
Possibly you can see my anger at the notion of an 11 year old boy being forced to wade through a snowbank in below freezing weather to compete for taxis with everyone else who wants one as well.
Last night I flagged one down for him by stepping right in front of one who tried to ignore me, my coworker, and my student. I opened the door, my coworker told the driver where to take my student, and then told my student to send me a text as soon as he got home. I then took a picture of a the taxi's plate.
Entirely all unnecessary, but I'm sure the boy had fun with it and we probably scared the driver out of ten years of his life.
lol. meh.
