Summer '06

Jun 09, 2006 10:15

School is finally over. The summer has arrived. It's about time.

Random stuff:

--Disappointed to see the Pistons go out like they did. I was definitely looking forward to seeing them AT LEAST make the Finals, but of course, just like the Red Wings, they choke. Despite everyone blaming Flip Saunders for trying to make the team a more "offensive minded," the team needs to be shaken up a little bit. Someone needs to go, whether it's Rasheed or Ben, something needs to happen this off-season. To make things even worse, the Pistons don't even have a first round draft pick this year. Bah. Hopefully some moves are made this summer.

--We're well into June and the Tigers are in friggin' first place. Not only first in the AL Central, but first in Major League Baseball! I just hope their pitching holds up for the rest of the season, because that's what's going to drive them through the fall. I'm still optimistic as to if they can keep this going through October, but time will tell I guess.

--Our school team ended up going 11-7 to finish the season, ending on a seven game winning streak. We finally started to gel mid-way through the season, and it showed coming down the stretch. I just hope we play this well come next year on Varsity. Awards banquet is Monday at DeLuca's in Dearborn Heights. I love their pizza.

-My Mom and Sister leave for Florida Tuesday morning, to visit with my Grandmother, who is recovering from breaking her hip a few weeks back. That'll leave me and my dad home alone for 5 days. Five days of peace and quiet...I'm counting the days until they leave.

--After Monday's RAW, I was really mad and pissed at WWE for the way they booked the entire ECW 'relaunch.' Well, after Wednesday's "WWE vs. ECW Head to Head" special, I'm really looking forward to this Sunday's ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view. The show was solid from top to bottom, with much of it actually making sense from a storyline point of view. Wow, the WWE Creative department can actually write an entertaining TV show for once. I'm shocked. I rarely watch WWE PPV's live, but I think I (along with a few others) are going to head to Emagine Theater in Canton to watch it. I'd much rather pay $7.50 than the $39.95 WWE is now charging. Not to mention ECW is starting on Sci Fi Tuesday night. It'll be interesting to see how similar (or different, depending on which way you look at it) it is to the old ECW programming. It's clearly not the same ECW of the 1990's-early 2000's, but I guess it'll have to do, since WWE has been producing crap the past few years. Maybe it will help TNA step up their game as well.

--Update: I will be on DDT Radio this coming Wednesday. The show airs from 6-9pm, and I'm not sure as to what time I will be on yet. If I find out beforehand, I'll have it posted here, as well as on my site.

--Since I've noticed that there are many more people reading this than I thought (and some that I don't want), I'm going to lock my LJ only to friends beginning this Monday. So, if you still want to be able to view my LJ, I'd suggest you sign up for an account and add to me your friends list. I will then add you to mine, and you'll good. Just wanted to warn people before I just locked it up without telling anyone.

That's about it for now, I guess. Pretty long entry for once. You all should feel rewarded.
