I was supposed to get up at 5:30 and get down to the NBC3 station at 6, or around there, so I could get my bracelet at 9 AM and interview around 10 AM. I woke up and looked at the clock -
9:25 AM.
SHIT!
I missed the audition...
Or so I thought. I got dressed anyway and said, fuck it - I'm going down there anyway. No matter how long the line is. I get dressed in my spiffy new gray suit, then for good measure I add my stylin' hat for good measure - you know the top hat I have (not a top hat, but I can't describe it).
I arrive down there around 9:35 or so. My alarm clock is fast...thank god. I'm the last one in line and as it turned out I was pretty much the last one to interview. I got my bracelet for an interview.
Surprisingly there were only 70 people in line.
So I waited for a couple hours, passing the time by talking to those in line with me. I made several friends, including a consulting firm owner, a former director of Northern California for Governor Ahnold, a film director, and lastly a weirdo named Gary who was soooo off the wall.
He wore a toupee but had long Aerosmith-like hair. He sang songs, claimed to be a millionaire, and just was completely off the wall.
I suppose that's the kind of people that the Donald attracts.
While waiting in line, George Ross, right hand man to Trump, comes out and greets people. He uses the same vanilla line, Hello, how are you? to everyone. I'm the last one in line, and when he sees me I'm wearing my hat. "I like your hat!" he says to me.
I heard it's all about distinguishing yourself from everyone else. Yay for that.
After waiting we go inside for the interview. We wait for a bit, then do a group interview with the casting director and George. They ask us to introduce ourselves: Shawn, the nice lady who wore bright colors and was Ahnold's assistant,
Tami (a manager at SF State), Galina (an aspiring singer from Bulgaria who brought head shots and CD's), ____ (the film director - I got his name), me, and Sandya (a consulting firm owner). Then they asked us a question, which we debated. As soon as we discussed a bit, the interview was over. We all left and they told us they'd be in contact.
So by 8 PM tonight I will know whether or not they want me for a call back.
WISH ME LUCK! :-D
(UPDATE, 2:15 PM: I got a callback. Details of which, are secret. ;-))
