This does look like fun, and I'm a big cruising fan, but jeez! The pricing is pretty steep for a 7-day cruise. Prices seem to be nearly twice the regular cruise fare; CruiseCon is charging $1570 per person for an inside cabin (double occupancy) versus the regular fare for that same sailing on the Dream of $899 for an inside cabin.

Has anyone done one of these before, and is it really worth that kind of a premium price? I'm genuinely curious....I might consider going, but unless there's an open bar and Aaron is personally giving me a pedicure, I have a tough time understanding why it's quite that high. ;p

Wow, that's a huge difference in price. $1570 vs $899. I've never been on a cruise before so I have no idea how it works. Maybe the price difference is because the con organisers have to pay to hire rooms on the boat for guest panels and private function rooms for night events to keep the regular cruise passengers out (???). And maybe the have some sort of organised trips in the places the cruise ship stops at (???). I honestly have no idea, I'm just guessing. They do have a forum on the website, maybe you could ask about it on there.

Another thing to be careful of is, don't going booking the cruise just because Aaron is a guest. The con is a year away. I wouldn't even book a con cruise he was doing in three months time because things can change at the last moment with acting work. You don't want to hand over $1,570 and then he has to cancel because he's got an acting gig.

I did post a question on their forum to that effect...here's the reply:

"Actually, if you figure the normal price for a cruise in addition to the normal price for a weekend convention (our convention is 7 days), it's very fair.

Prices include your cruise, taxes, all gratuities, port charges, unlimited meals, dinner every night with the celebrity of your choice, autograph pictures of each of the celebrities, a CruiseCons T-shirt, bon voyage party with celebrities, a kareoke night, Q & A's, shore excursions with celebrities, photo ops with the celebrities, a gala and many other CruiseCons activities."So, yes there certainly will be various group activities, but I don't know whether they get charged for the space for group activities or not. Cruiselines usually offer groups a free cabin for every 8 or so cabins booked, so that might also be how they're handling the guests (though I am speculating here ( ... )
