AAR @ The Garage

Mar 16, 2012 14:03

Oh My God. I am no longer an AAR virgin (and it was totally better than losing my actual virginity but don't tell my ex BF that). I ache so much, am a little sleep deprived, am living on Panadol and toast right now and was still in my nightie at 1pm but WHAT A NIGHT!! It was SO TOTALLY AWESOME!! Seriously, Ty is such an amazing frontman and I know I say this every time (except for P!ATD, Brendon really doesn't care about the audience as long as they watch him) but he really looked right at me and dear God I melted. *sighs happily*

Neon_footprints counted about 8 new songs and I have got to say, this album is going to be so epic.

They are on amazing form and really brilliant but also so much fun - Ty talks a lot and still sings to Nick ALL the time, and there's innuendo galore (including using his microphone lead to whip Nick's guitar), Nick is channeling Richie Sambora to the nth degree (no, seriously, if I can ever find video of last night I can put side by side with footage of Richie I'll show you what I mean, if he ever gets a cowboy hat the look will be complete!) and Mike is on something/really, really happy with life as he was bouncing up and down like a yoyo, so adorable! And the touring bass is cute, he reminds us of Ian from P!ATD, same smile, slightly shy look but happy to be groped/abused by the lead singer happiness. I couldn't really see Chris (small stage, no riser, and we were pretty close to the front so he was behind Tyson) but we love him too all the same. :)

Anyway, my camera isn't great (I couldn't find my normal camera so had to use an old one with a broken flash instead), but on the plus side it has a 'continuous shooting mode' which meant I managed to get a couple of decent shots when they stood still enough. Unfortunately whilst we were near the front and had a fucking great view, we were also in direct line of some of the lights so quite a few shots had too much lighting glare\Tyson had a lightbulb head so there aren't many that made the final cut. (And if anyone wants the full set to see if there is anything they can do/crop/shop/get out of them let me know and I'll send them through or try and find a working file share site to put them up.)

Ah well, here you go!

Oh and the support act are a group called Page 44, they are on facebook and have a free download of one of their songs there. Anyway, they were really good, a lot of fun, not drunk/stoned/otherwise wasted (which makes a nice change) so really on the ball, alert and fun, had some brilliant banter, and I kindof want to ship two of them (the two guitarists on the right hand side) as they were kindof slashy onstage. Oh and one of the guitarists has a very sweet "when I grow up I want to be Frank Iero" vibe (big sweatshirt onstage, neck tattoo, hair, general moves) which is really endearing.

TLDR? The gig was brilliant, our boys were amazing, the new album is going to be SO FUCKING EPIC I AM HAVING TROUBLE WAITING AND SERIOUSLY THINKING OF COUNTING THE HOURS, and I highly recommend looking up Page 44 on facebook and trying out their free song "to make you proud". :)
