Today I did the last task possible to becoming a homeowner. Signing the paperwork. Forty-Five minutes of my time in committing (if handled responsibly) the next three years (at least) of my life to staying in this one place. Something that's been over five months in the making. I started looking for a home in late January. After a few false starts with other houses, I finally found my base of operations, a 1,700 sq. ft. Four bedroom, one story house off the corner of Desert Inn. There's a backyard, a carport, and garage. I'll have a dining room, living room, and a mortgage. It's scary, nothing makes you feel order more than making "adult" changes.
The dynamic will also be an interesting mix of me, my mother (for however long, she says she's looking for somewhere else to live. I'm not so sure. She threw a bitch fit just this morning when she found out I wasn't making her the beneficiary to the house if anything happens to me, but I digress), and Ray. Whom with hopefully being around each other more will help get us motivated to do some serious work. It'll be nice having a friend around when I don't want to go out, it'll keep me from saving money. Also I expect Abbie will be around often as well, adding to the group dynamic, a weird ragtag assembled family if you will.
I also hope to see more of my friends more often. All to much it seems if we aren't out spending money somewhere or working out, we don't see each other. I hope that all of you. Yes every single friend I know, should feel welcomed to come over. Even if I may not be there to entertain you (especially during school) I hope that if you would like a place to watch movies, play video games, get away from your family, please don't feel reluctant to come over. I know the feeling of needing a place to get away from everything sometimes. This is my way of giving back to some of you.
Owning a house keeps me open for a lot of plans/ideas/schemes, I'm thinking of backing through Europe for a week or so with the money I'll get from my tax return next year if it works financially, if my mom moves out; rather than renting to a friend I'm thinking of adding a different dynamic like a foreign exchange student (it'll be good to have connections in other countries if I take trips out there), to advertising on campus and charging some out of state student for the semester and repeat the process following. Also personally, having the right stranger live with you (and I like to think I'm a pretty good judge of character) would be better, they'll respect your space more because they don't want to offend you, and if they're taking hard classes they won't have the time to cause drama... Hopefully I find some rich nerd transferring from Texas or California or somewhere crazy like that needing a place to stay who has no problem paying $400 a month for rent, plus part of the utilities.
Damn these wheels they never stop spinning.
In other news... Bought my plane ticket to San Diego this past weekend. Comic-Con is on. Me, Richard, Joe, Ray, and their friend Ryan, whom I'm reluctant about because from what I hear he doesn't have a job. Oh well, not my problem, I just hope no one expects me to help him out.
