Life at 70

Mar 06, 2007 11:14

I hit 70 a week or two ago, I don't really remember when. I did fulfill my prediction, though. I am 70 without having left Nagrand yet.
I still haven't been out to Netherstorm or Shadowmoon Valley, except to get the flight paths, and I haven't done any quests in Blade's Edge Mountains either. I've just been in an alt mood lately.

Got my paladin to 25, my mage to 27, a belf priest, a belf lock, and an orc warrior up to 12 - all of this within the past week.
I was really sick over the weekend, and no runs really happened anyway, so I guess last night I was making up for it all.

Griefin' the lowbies
The previous night I had parked Aeyris in Splintertree Post in Ashenvale since I was going to be questing there with my mage and I had been ganked by a couple 70s that Char came and dispatched afterwards (lol).

Anyway, I do a quest with my mage and I'm making my way back to Splintertree when I pass a thirtysomething rogue fighting a ?? to me (I'm 27 at the time) druid. They were fighting in some brush next to a tree so I ran a little up the hill and started casting. I pyro'd and did like 500 damage, much to my surprise so I just kept going.
The rogue died, but the druid was at 1% so even though I had broke to run away, I stopped and started up a fireball.
"Pleasedon'tresistpleasedon'tresistpleasedon'tresis- YESSSSS!!!!!!'
And I killed the druid.
I continued running to Splintertree and while almost home free, I got charged by a warrior and hit with something, but I blinked and kept running while a couple of 40ish blood elves, (a priest and pally) stopped him from pursuing me. I ran STRAIGHT into the inn, logged off, and logged in Aeyris. Then it began.

I went outside to find the warrior's corpse with the two blood elves standing over him. Both 44s. They said he had been riding in and out of Splintertree for a while, that he was doing that when they landed there. They told me he was a 49. I fort buffed them and they went on their way... while I stood watch.

The warrior rezzed and ran, so I mounted to follow. I chased him almost to the border of the Barrens and then dismounted to mind blast and SW:P. I was pretty sure he'd survive, but I didn't care. I went back to Splintertree and hung out on the west side of the entrance, near all the npcs, in plain sight.

I saw the druid and the warrior return and head for the main entrance, and they pulled some guards to start killing them. I wish I could say that I mind controlled the warrior and used him to kill the druid before the druid had a chance to get away, but I wasn't that quick yesterday. Instead I just utterly wasted them, lol.
Then I went up and stood on the hill on the east side of the entrance, again in plain sight.

The druid must have ran off, because only warrior came back, mounted up and ran right by me, then through the town and started dragging guards. On his way out, I killed him at the doorway, and he didn't come back.

Skipping to Murmur
I was in the middle of creating a 2v2 arena team with Char when Exura whispered me asking to help them finish Shadow Labrynth - their healer had abandoned them right before Murmur. Which I know to be a bad sign, but I knew that Exura sure wasn't the problem, so I agreed to go. After a wipe in the hallway and another few wipes on Murmur himself, people were starting to break. Problem was, the warrior capital S-Sucked. He could not get out of the sonic booms in time, because who knows why. He just wasn't doing it and it was costing us. I whispered Exura that after our final attempt to stick around and I'd get Char to tank it and we'd finish it off. She logged in and we summoned her and sent everybody else off to go repair. We summoned them back and went and 1-shotted Murmur. It was pretty awesome.

After that, me and Char went back to Nagrand to finish registering our team and try to get in a couple Arena matches.

The Heartless
We registered our team and the flag and whatnot after a slight bit of difficulty, and waited for our first match. I was so tense when it popped and we went in. Exactly like the feeling I used to have in WSG, AV or AB when I went in there for my first times - knowing no strategy, flying by the seat of your pants, the time before you feel comfortable and call the place your second home.

Our first match was against a Druid and Rogue in the Nagrand arena. I saw the druid stealth as the gate opened and Char started to look for him as I stuck close to her. She found him and brought him out of stealth while the two of them jumped on top of me. I feared, PoM spammed, and Char healed me through it until I feared the rogue a second time and dotted him while we polished off the druid. Then we went after the rogue while he spammed all manner of emotes randomly.
It was a close match.

Encouraged by the victory, I queued us for another.
Our second match was... odd. It was in the Blade's Edge Arena - a night elf hunter and druid. The druid, stealthed from the beginning was apparently trying to reach us, while I saw the hunter run to the middle of the bridge and shadowmeld. So we started to go up one of the ramps and he shot me as he jumped off the bridge. Char layed into him while I beat on him as well and found myself wondering where his partner was. We went up the ramp as Char saw him stealth on the floor below. She soon found him on the bridge and we brought him out of stealth. He had much better gear as Char's health dropped fast, but I just healed her up and dotted him. It was like he'd given up pretty much. Oh yeah, and we won. It was awesome.
But we had to stop there before I had a heart attack from excitement.

Then after that, I went on a run to Sethekk Halls with Hethorn healing, Char tanking, and Thereaper, Kakure and I dpsing. We were done in about an hour. We only had to rebuff once right before the boss fight. No deaths, no near-deaths, almost no stopping. I have never been on a such a smooth, quick, well-executed run. Health and mana were topped off with my VE and VT, marks were fast and saps were quick to respond, pulls were smooth and not delayed by "brb", focus fire was plentiful and aggro was never lost. It was amazing.
Heth is an excellent leader and both him and Reaper super-impressed me on that run.
And it was rather hilarious that Kakure happened to be the rogue that came along with us. Kakure, the rogue who I saved from death and helped him kill alliance on the south Wyvern Roost druing a Halaa taking, and who later sent me valentine's day candy as a result.

'Twas a good day.
