A Good Day....

After a rare evening trip last night to our most beloved geek headquarters, American Science and Surplus, we are having a fun day today. The girls and I went to the back garden to launch seltzer rockets and crack geodes!

Pretty Butterflies!!! I've only seen a couple this year . not many at all . .

I remember when the older 3 were young (all under 5) we saw a caterpillar and after having crawl on (and tickle!!) all their hands we put it back into the grass and made the comment "and it will turn into a butterfly by next year" .. Never make a throw away comment like that to kids . They want to know instantly how that happens .. I got away with it by saying it wraps itself into a big blanket and falls asleep for a long time and wakes up as a butterfly ...

Isn't it amazing how careful we have to be with what we say? Luckily, we have an excellent board book by Eric Carle called "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", which satisfactorily explains butterfly metamorphosis! I got let off the hook on that one.

BTW, I made your Toad-in-the-Hole last night and it was a success! Wanted to post pics, but the camera battery was dead. My 6-year-old actually gobbled it up! And she doesn't gobble anything. Big thanks for a winning recipe! :D

You're welcome . I'm all for the easy life when it comes to cooking and hate recipes with hundreds of ingredients . I prefer things that taste nice with only a few ingredients .
