Another revision to my 12 for 2012 list:

1 of 12 - Asian-inspired costume.

2 of 12 - Things That Must Be Sent Away.

3 of 12 - PoD.

4 of 12 - Cutting out of 3 and assembly of 1 dress.

5 of 12 - Assembly of dress 2.

6 of 12 - Classic Film Wallhanging

7 of 12 - Was Velvet Embroidery Project. Cannot deal with black velvet in this heat. That one goes back on the shelf for another year. However, I'm excited about the embroidery project for this month because it's a gift for my mum. It's a ceremonial caftan with babouches and belt from 19th century Rabat. She's very much into historic costumes as well, but her interests lie further back in history than mine. She's a textile artist and enjoys the simple lines of Eastern costumes, which really accentuate the weave of the fabric and the intent of the weaver. The lineart design is from a book called Islamic Design by Diane Victoria Horn.

The fabric is faux shantung. It's got some nice "natural" looking variations in it, but isn't as delicate as real silk. This is a big piece (about 8"x11"), so I need it to be tough while I'm working on it.

A start:

I'm especially excited because I'm going to try some new textural filling stitches on the caftan. No WAY I'm gonna satin stitch all that. :)

Also for this month, I've gone and signed up for the Prisoner of Azkaban swap over at Y!HPC. Because I'm a glutton for punishment and I love obligating myself to crafts when I have much more "important" stuff I have to get done.

8 of 12 - Huffie Charm Bracelet

9 of 12 - Quilt Kit Quilt

10 of 12 - Sumayya's quilt.

11 of 12 - Amani's quilt.

12 of 12 - Fanfic finally.

12 for 2012, embroidery
